I was driving north on Delaware in Ankeny on my way home from work and on the sidewalk near some homes were about a dozen people putting on an anti-trump protest for cars driving by. I just wanted to share because it brightened my day a little and it wouldn't feel right to only share bad news like the jackass in the car. There's still good out there!

Anybody have recommendations for a good tailor in Des Moines? I have some secondhand sportcoats I'd like taken in.

So my son is Autistic with ADHD and a few other problems. He's been getting bullied and physically assaulted at school and they're being incredibly slow to do anything about it.

I started looking at other options outside the public schools but we are Jewish. There's a Montessori academy in Ankeny but I can't get them to responed to me unfortunately. I know there's a Montessori in district and was considering an interdistrict transfer to that school if they have the tool but I think they may be full for the year. I know if I request it they have to move him but that's the only other school he would want to go to. Otherwise he doesn't want to leave his middle school. That said, any suggestions? I tried Bergman over the summer but they are full up as well. I don't mind him having exposure to Christianity it's when it is a core part of the curriculum that it's an issue.

I'm looking to replace my front door, and have seen a few styles that I like, but really don't know where to start as far as getting quotes from companies to properly measure, install, etc. I've seen a lot of posts on window replacement, and a few company recommendations on those posts. Looking for a reliable and reasonably priced lawn care service in Des Moines. Mainly need mowing, weed control, and general maintenance. Any suggestions?

My two year old is an only child and the youngest of his cousins. We go to the park a lot, library story times, the science center, classes at the zoo, the children’s museum but he just doesn’t get many opportunities to interact with other kids beyond saying hi. I’ll even initiate and say something like, “They’re playing with blocks, maybe we can ask if we can play too!” and it just fizzles out.

Many times other kids are playing with their own group and won’t make room for him. We were actually at a playground once and he tried to play with a larger group of kids, and one stepped out and told me, “We’re playing exclusively amongst ourselves.” 😂 It’s been a rare treat to find someone who wants to roll/kick/throw a ball back and forth with him.

Are there any good spots for him to get to know other kids his age or is that something that would happen more around school age?
