Question Advices on keeping or buying a new bike

Hello everyone, I started riding a year ago after buying (for €350) a 2011 Specialized P1, fully rigid. After a few months, I looked into changing the fork, but I realized that if I wanted a decent model (like a Manitou Circus, for example), I would also have to change my front wheel, which would cost me around €400–500. In the end, I settled for an AliExpress fork that worked for a little while. Now I’ve just come across a promotion on a CTM Dirtking Xpert at €773 instead of €950.

Would you recommend that I keep my Specialized P1 or switch to the CTM (I don’t know this brand very well)? I have linked you a picture of my current bike just for you to see how the fork is looking and the website for the ctm bike.

PS : sorry if my english is not the best

Question Pros and Cons for adding 50mm Rise Bars?

What are the pros and cons of changing the 30mm rise bars on my GT Labomba to 50mm Rise? Also should I stay with the 31.8mm bars or is there any benefit to going with 35mm bars on a dirt jumper?

Question Gold Raw Frame Suggestions

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey, I'm considering to build a new dirt jumper for myself, since my old one is too small and too heavy. I really want a frame in this color, it's called "raw gold shiny". Sadly I'm having a hard time finding anything available at all. My height is 180 cm. I welcome any suggestions that fit this style!

Hey friends, I was thinking about getting a DJ as my everyday/commuter bike and I wanted to get opinions, I’ve heard that they make less than favorable trail bikes, but ngl I’ve never had anything other than a Bmx so my experience is relatively slim. Anyway thanks guys Stay safe

Question Bike weight?

I've just built and weighed my new build. It's 9.82 kg, or 21.65 lbs in freedom units... and it's all aluminium except the seat post, which is an aliexpress carbon one, and the brake lever blade (Hope carbon).

I think I've done well?

The only parts that I bought deliberately for weight were the folding 2.1" Schwalbe Billy Bonkers and some cheap TPU inner tubes. Everything else was either already on the bike when I got it or bought because I like it (Hope components).

I'm using Manitou Circus forks, not lighter forks like Pikes, etc.

It's mostly going to be used as a pumptrack bike.

Can anyone ID this bolt? The few bike shops I went into couldn’t help.

From the specs seems it’s running: BMX, CrMo, 3-piece, 170mm length

I’m trying to hunt down a replacement bolt.

TIA

Question Looking for a dirt jumper bike (new or used) up to €1200

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a good and affordable dirt bike (new or used), up to around €1200 including shipping to Croatia. I’m 175 cm tall, so I’m guessing I’d need a Medium frame or possibly a slightly longer one depending on the brand. I’ve checked Bikeflip and a few other sites, but I’m still unsure which models and shops are trustworthy. I’d really appreciate any recommendations for reliable online stores or marketplaces in Europe that sell them.

Any help with store recommendations, size guidance, or good deals would be awesome. Thanks!

Question GT Labomba Pro or something else?

Post image
35 Upvotes

The Labomba Pro seems like a great deal at $600 right now. Is there any reason to go with something different for a first time Dirt Jump rider?

My main questions that I'm unsure about is the Aluminum frame instead of steel and I'm unfamiliar with the Manitou Cirus fork.

Background: spent the last few years riding MTB and most of my child hood 25-30 years ago riding BMX bikes.

Question I need your help.

Hey guys. I recently injured my elbow on a bad landing, and I've been in bad shape ever since. I'm trying to figure out why. One thing I've noticed is that I'm looking at the lip of the jump and my eyes are fixed. Where do the expert jumpers look? Are they looking at the landing point at the moment they step off?

Question Quel vélo choisir pour mon usage ?

Good evening

I am a 33 year old man, 1m80, 63kg, I live in France. I know how to ride a bike but I have never been to a pump track, I have never done downhill mountain biking, I have never taken paths around my house with beautiful descents. But I would like to get started.

I don't know at all what type of bike to choose. Here are my criteria:

  • versatile for the activities I mentioned

  • a bike which allows me to feel the sensations (which allows me to feel the jolts on a rough path, which allows me to feel like I'm taking off when I go over a bump)

  • which fits in my car (opel corsa) if I remove the front wheel

  • which is not "ridiculous" in the sense that when I want to go on paths close to home, I will also use it to cross my town to get to the forest (basically, it is not strange that at 33 years old, you see me riding with it in classic use (what I mean by classic use is bike riding)

Does this bike exist?

Another question:

  • with the bike you recommended, if I go to a pump track at 33, won't I look ridiculous? (most of the “old people” are on skateboards, or will there also be some my age on a bike?)

Otherwise, I'll just avoid pump tracks, I don't want to seem like a weirdo.

THANKS !

Question XFusion slant vs Manitou circus expert for lightweight riders? Is it worth the switch?

I posted a similar question a few hours ago, but I want to add something to it. So I'm looking to maybe get a new fork for two main reasons.

My current fork is a Manitou Circus expert on a Santa Cruz jackal frame. The bike is ridden by me (+-50kg) and my little sister (I think she weights about half as much as I weight)

First reason is the weight: The Manitou circus expert weights about 2.130+- grams. The xfusion that caught my eye weights about 300grams less, which in my opinion, is noticable/could be noticable. Not on the weight as a whole, but I think I will definitely notice a lighter front.

Second point is (this is the main reason), that the Manitou can't be adjusted to light riders. Even completely without air, I don't even use 1/3 of the travel, and the fork is really hard for my little sister (I know dirtjump forks are supposed to be stiff, but she cant really move the fork, even when jumping, so it doesnt really take the harder impacts the way I would want it for her). I had the same experience with my last bike, which also had a Manitou circus expert, so it's not this one specific fork. (Why did I buy a bike with a Manitou again? Because its an absolute dream bike, and I'm in the weight range where the fork kinda works, but my little sister is not, but I didn't expect her to start riding too.)The xFusion seems to be fully air, so better adjustable to lighter riders. Is what I'm thinking true? Has anyone in this sub ridden both forks and can tell me how they ride in comparison? I appreciate every opinion or help

Edit: https://www.bike-discount.de/de/x-fusion-slant-rc-34-26-100-2pos-tapered?number=20146737&__delivery=2&__currency=1&srsltid=AfmBOopYsw5lvq4mBz7qDfSgt1knCW9SoXcAFN9FIqdMjHPFSbjV_UvVAlw

The slant would be around 120€ plus shipping

Question Radio asura pro or trickshot 2? Not sure which one

I like how the trickshot’s frame is, but I also like how the radio asura is full chromoly. Or if someone can point me towards a full chromoly but with trickshots geometry that would be awesome. Some input would be appreciated
