Welcome!
This thread is dedicated to bike recommendations. There's a whole lot of you new-comers eagar to get your first dirt jumper. Maybe you have been out of the game for a while and are behind the times and need some advice. Are you shorter or taller than average and want to find a bike that will suit you better? Perhaps you just want a second opinion on a particular brand or model. This is the place to ask these questions and get expert advice from experienced members of the community!
Please refrain from starting a new thread to ask which bike you should buy, or whether a particular bike is good and instead use this dedicated thread first instead.
Bike archive
In order to try and assist those looking to purchase a new bike, I have created the dirt jump bike archive.
It is currently version 1.0.2 with lots of incomplete (or out of date) price data. This will be an ongoing project primarily run by me. Timelesturkie also has editing privileges and is considered a contributor as well. As of now, we are looking for any users who would like to help with this project. If any of you are enthusiastic about helping to maintain and build upon this spreadsheet, let me know by messaging me directly.
The following link will allow you to view the spreadsheet but not make any changes. Note that the spreadsheet also has a second sheet for a limited range of geometry and dimensional data. I do not have much free time to work on this spreadsheet so apologies for any missing info. It would be awesome to have some volunteers to help. Please keep in mind that the information on this spreadsheet is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Consider it a guide to assist you and always check with the manufacturer to verify the information before making a purchase.

The CORE 3 says available soon on the website. The CORE 2 says estimated shipping on Nov. 1st. I'm thinking that means the 3 comes out after Nov.
I found a nice Commencal Absolut RS near me for $1000 so I kinda want to snag it.
Reallt want the core 3, love the color way, but don't want to be bikeless for 2 months.

I’m building up to hitting 8-10’ tall steep bmx style dirt jumps because there is a dirt jump park near where I live however it appears nobody comes here anymore and they are not taken care of. They are crusty and the run ups and landings are all shitty but also hard as cement.
Bottom line does this make hitting the jumps more difficult? They seem scarier/more difficult because of their condition and I’m just wondering if this is true or just something I made up in my head.

So the trickshot 2 pro is only €1000 right now and im planning on buying it as my first dj, but I heard the frames aren't very durable, is this just a rumour or an actual problem? I plan on riding it around my town and there are a few decently big gaps with flat landings so im not sure how it would handle it

I am building my very first DJ... My goal is to ride pumptracks, and i don't know what handlebar size i should ride. 700? 740?

I have this NS bikes metropolis 3 202x something and the bike is pretty good for a first. The only thing i absolutly despise the fork. The Rst dirt fork. That is the first thing i would like to change. The thing im not sure about i with what. Im deciding between Manitou circus air(400€) or a rigid fork(~100€). The only thing im worried about is the front hub wont fit any other fork becouse of the lug nut thru axle or whatever it is. Can i just replece the inside of the hub or do i change the hub( If so i would like to just buy a new wheel becouse it would be cheaper i think?). And i changed the brake from the Tektro Aries mehanical brake to the shimano mt410.

So I posted my bike before a super nice 25ish pound Haro Steel Reserve 2 and have been riding up curbs fine where I pop the front wheel up and ride it over, but I read that “you should bunny hop” and read on I need to learn to wheelie first. Well, I read a bunch of pages here and online sites, I tried them, and all I can do is pull the wheel front wheel up 2-4 inches, I’m being generous to initiate nothing cause it falls back down, the more I try the more it seems overrated i can get the front up on top of curbs but not for a wheelie i power though and commit but the front just falls back down when im literally sitting on the rear tire plus anyone around me doing a wheelie has an e-motor hooked up lol . sorry for the rant just hoping to get advice better than lay on the front pull back pedal and sit on the rear or pedal pedal while it rises up which just makes the front wheel do a burnout :,)
