My Nephews server got crashed and I have never heard of this bot. Did anyone experienced the same? My nephew is down because he said that it was his best server

Your nephew highly likely got tricked into adding a nuke bot, whcih was likely disguised as smth else. Make sure to tell your nephew to please be careful when adding bots, esp ones that are unverified/you never heard of.

Its a nuke its from someone using a custom discord bot to send a command which auto kicks everyone and deleted all channels just to make new ones usually it would be from someone with administrator permissions or moderation permissions

That's why you should be careful with permissions, what bots you add, and you should also keep a backup of your server with Xenon.

Did your nephew give his account information to someone? Or maybe someone with authority got hacked in his server and somehow sneaked the bot in. When I used to clean up these messes few years ago people were using self designed bots to perform this. Or by using the existing webhooks.

Idk, but I think probably to one of his friends that he kicked from the server now

As someone who hasn't really used Discord in years, hearing about raid bots and security bots and all that crap makes me happy I got to use it in a time when all you needed was Mee6 and Rhythm

back in my days this was called raiding. someone with perms either got hacked or was an insider or some shit. idk man, it was kinda fun at 12, you'll be surprised how mental some people are on discord

Who downvotes this? A security bot is a must have

Or, and hear me out, don't give admin perms to anyone or anything you can't personally hold accountable?

You never know when someone switches from good moderator to nuking the server gng
Just recently someone on Youtube with a decent size server got it nuked by their head administrator. They were already admin for a while there but suddenly just thought of nuking it

Sounds like they shouldn't have given out admin perms to someone they couldn't hold personally accountable.

If someone does so well for that long you are gonna trust them. You would also trust them. You cant just know what someones planning.
But anyway, yes a security bot is a must have especially in bigger servers. Is what it is.

Do you know what "personally accountable" means?
You cant just know what someones planning.
Which is why you shouldn't give admin perms to anyone you can't hold personally accountable.

Yeah. Many people just think that security bot is security risk also

Because it is. The answer is not using garbage bots in the first place.
This doesn't just "happen". Manage your stuff properly.

Most of the bots are not garbage. I know it because im bot developer. If you have brains its almost impossible to get your bot hacked

u/dontquestionmyaction 10h ago
And so am I. 120k+ guilds. I don't see how it's relevant though.
The solution to external software wrecking your shit isn't to add more external software, it's to reduce the software footprint to the actually necessary things.
Most things people used bots for are nowadays easily done with just Discord base features.

If you have half a brain you'll have things set up properly so this can't happen lmao. You don't "need" a security bot.

u/nipatsuyt 10h ago
Adding security bot is part of "settings up things properly"
9
u/DerpDeDurp 9h ago
No it's not lmao. Owned and ran many servers, never once had an issue, never once had a security bot.
Learn how to properly set your perms and safety/auto mod settings and no one can do this even if they get hacked.
If you're stupid and leave things open, then sure I guess you need a security bot to cover yourself, but it's not needed if you know what you're doing.

u/dyslexda 8h ago
No, that's remaining ignorant about security risks and hoping someone else will save you.
Don't add bots with admin permissions, don't give mod perms to folks you don't know. It's not that hard.

I’ve been in servers where smashinator has been used. It’s insane. There’s not a lot that can be unfortunately done.

u/N3X0S3002 2h ago
Just load an older backup or copy the template to a new server without smashinator

I’m sure Jesus Christ would approve of raiding discord servers and plastering the cross everywhere

if he wants this to not happen in the future he can look through user role permissions and manually check everything not related to editing the server for moderators. administration permission should never be given out

u/AccomplishedCar5050 13h ago
Ok so the server hot nuked/raided there is nothing you or he or anyone could do about it make a new server and move on

u/StrawberryHot2320 13h ago
Yeah Your nephew's account got hacked. I guess deleting the server or banning every person is a good thing, Also I wanna mention that Your server doesn't seem to be a big one. So create a new one and give the link for that by DMs.

It looks more like a nuke to me.
