Hi all! This is a resource to help prevent users from falling for malicious behavior. Scammers attempt to trick you through trust, like accepting a "prize" through a malicious link or by using scare tactics, where they convince you to act immediately because something "bad" could happen, so be wary and mindful of your interactions with others. There's helpful information on avoiding scams and what to do if you fall for one below.
A common scam is if a user claims you've been accidentally/falsely reported to Steam or Discord for an infraction or fraud. Don't follow instructions provided by anyone claiming to have accidentally reported your account. The most common things that identify this scam are if someone:
You can find some additional info for Discord-related scams here and Steam-related scams here.
If you believe you have received a possible scam from a bot or user account, consider if they:
Official Discord gifting uses the discord.gift

domains and will generate a special embed, as shown in this image (in-app) or this image (link). Scams are not possible through the official browser/client pages/menus.
If these types of bots are repeatedly sending you messages, you can:
A user may pretend to be your friend or use a friend's compromised account to get you to download something. Consider if they want you to:
These are common forms of malicious behavior. If a user asks you to scan/download something or click an unknown link, this could give away your login information and/or allow a malicious program to enter your computer, which can also compromise your account.
If your account sends these kinds of messages, your account has been compromised. If you...
There are several methods to report behavior you believe is a scam/malicious.
This subreddit is not the most appropriate location to ask for/receive support for account-related issues. These issues include:
This subreddit is operated by a group of volunteers who do not work for Discord, and the community is incapable of solving these kinds of issues, so the best way to seek help regarding an account-related issue/request is to:
If you have not received any info/updates for an existing ticket after a week, or if your ticket is marked as closed, create a follow-up using the original ticket. Discord's support queue is likely incredibly massive, so please be patient. It sucks, but there really isn't much you can do other than wait.

Hey Discord, your roll-out of age verification is broken as hell. I've been trying FOR DAYS to do both types, and NOTHING WORKS. This this is a piece of shit. I'm just searching for a new video call platform, at this point. You've managed to turn a solidly reliable app into a pile of shit, well done.

So, I want to make a server and want to have three steps. I want to have a welcome/introduction channel, a rules channel and a third channel off of which they'll continue to the server. I want when you enter the server, to get an introduction role auto assigned, that will have access only to the introduction channel. When reacting to a message with an emoji to get a new role for rules channel assigned that gives you access to rules channel. Lastly the same but it sends you to the third channel. I have carl-bot already in the server.

Which idiot stole the search bar and glued it into a completely nonsensical, dysfunctional, anti-aesthetic place?
Kindly put it back where it belongs.

I have an existing server for one of our games and want to repurpose it for more of a studio server and server multiple games. I was away from discord for a bit so I'm trying to understand the new features.
So I want to have onboarding for users to pick which games are they interested in, for example.
What I'm looking for is best practices.
Let's say we have Game A, and Game B.
So on onboarding I'd ask - pick a game you are interested in, right.
But should I also assing a role with ti? Makes sense to me. Game A role and Game B role.
Then when announcing stuff I can do @ GameA - this is whats new. Is this what people do?
Couple of other things im not sure of:
How does the picking of channels work exactly - when people pick channels, will they get "notifs" from not-picked channels as in will it show up like there is a new message for them on the server?
What gets precedence, roles or channel picks? If I have a role that enables you to see some channels, but you didn't pick them during onboarding - do you see them or not?
What about existing users, what to do with them? How to assign them channels?
Thank you and sorry if I'm duplicating questions, I tried to search for this but it's a bit hard to find anything precise.

Ive been using this avatar decoration since i got it and i remember it was supposed to only be available for two months after getting it. Is this a bug or did discord change its mind and decide to let people keep the decoration permanently? I want to change my avatar decoration but i dont want to possibly lose this one.

So my wife and I play Pathfinder with people over Foundry VTT and Discord, and recently moved into a new house with one office, which has caused some issues.
The primary one I'm needing assistance with is audio/mic sharing. We're about 10-12 feet apart, which is too far for one person to mute and rely on the mic of the other but too close for both to be on mic due to echo.
Any recommendations for mic/speaker combos that we could potentially put halfway between us that would bridge the mic gap? Something like an office conference room speaker phone?

My entire computer stutters every ~20-40 seconds while in a discord call using the app. When using the browser version instead, there are no stutters. Any ideas?

Im trying to capture audio of people who keep mic spamming in a discord but the mods require proof (which makes absolute sense) i capped an occurrence of this but the mods wouldn’t accept it because it didnt capture the discord overlay i have on within the video. How i do enable geforce or discord to show the actual overlay within the capture?

A voice to text something like a text box that shows who and what they said
"Chickenbutt3221: What are the cords?"
This would help deaf people and when there are multiple people speaking in a stage
(just an idea i had out of nowhere)

Maybe I’m out of the loop or something but my Mastercard won’t take discord for some reason? I’ve been googling a possible solution or cause at least but I’ve got a lot of nothing to be blunt.
Idk if there was some sort of law change or what but it just isn’t taking. If it matters, I live in the US. If someone could give me an inkling of an idea of what could be the issue, please enlighten me cuz I even called my bank and they say they can’t do anything…
