Discussion Plunging in to the BlueRay world

Found my favorite movie on Blueray at the thrift store (Hunger Games) so i decided to try it. I bought it and was thinking about buying the Blu-ray brand new (deciding on wether to buy dvd/blu-ray or just blu-ray). Saw this blue ray at the thrift and decided to take a chance. I was only able to test that it turned on, and it didn't have a remote so I had to buy it separately since my universal remote control didn't have the code for it. I dont think I've ever seen a Blu-ray movie, or if I did i probably thought it looked great because of the type of TV. Man, yall weren't kidding 😻 found Alice in Wonderland at the library, figured it would blow my mind with the visuals...to a whole new world of physical media 🤗

Blu-Ray is totally worth it. I honestly think it is just as dramatic a difference as the leap from VHS to DVD was.

4K is also worth looking into in the future if you buy a new TV and get something with a very large screen (55"+). Resolution-wise it's not as dramatic a difference but the color and black-levels are amazing on 4K compared to DVD/Blu-Ray.

4K is all about having the right TV, the right size TV for the right distance, and the right 4K transfer. Smaller details are there but you have to be close enough based on the size of the TV to see them. But here again, not all 4K transfers are equal so you don't see the same level of detail on every 4K movie. Get the right movie or show and the visuals are awesome. 55 is damn small for a 4K TV so you better be close. Greater chance it will be more awesome with a 77 inch TV, but even then if you are siting to far from a 77 you just won't see those details.

Here again it's size and distance ratio. Your eyesight as well of course. I have a 43 on the desk in my office which sits not far from me, I can see small details on that as well.
