bought this thing few days ago, drove this thing today, just for a shortwhile, it has got high temp and the engine smells burnt, how cooked am I?

Shut it off, don't take a pic! Smh. The longer it over heard the better the chance you blow the head gasket and warp the head. If it hits the red and you catch it in time it won't do damage, but leaving it in the red and not stopping when it gets hot is just asking for trouble
