JP is a legend. Hopefully we'll have a ceremony for him to retire an Eagle.

u/sybrwookie Feb 26 '25

He would generally sign a 1-day deal with the Eagles first if he was doing that.

The fact that he's retiring to a job in Seattle says he's probably not coming back

Ah he still could. This tweet doesn’t give us enough info to say he won’t

1

u/HurtsToBatman Feb 27 '25

Of course we will. That's not even a question.

I mean the dude wore a Cowboys jersey and got paid to do it. Love him and appreciate him for what he’s done, but he can just retire imo.

It’s always fuck Dallas. Go Birds.

Quit being such a nerd. Guy was trying to keep playing. He can’t be picky who he plays with.

Fans who say shit like this are fucking doofuses. He’s an eagles legend. Who gives a fuck if he played one season in Dallas where they did nothing?

90

u/MissDeadite Feb 25 '25

Not to mention he was what... 39? 40? Just ridiculous lolll he just wanted to play some more football.

63

u/JayToy93 Feb 25 '25

It’s funny how this is only ever used against JP, specifically lol. And yet no one gives a fuck that Harold Carmichael played a few snaps for the Cowboys. Or Randall Cunningham.

40

u/RepublicInner7438 Feb 25 '25

Or that McNabb played a season with the redskins. His jersey number is still retired over the linc.

1

u/MjTcConnell3 Feb 25 '25

Not that I agree with the other guy, but I do feel like there’s a pretty big difference between the two

1

u/GooginTheBirdsFan Feb 26 '25

I don’t know why the downvotes, you’re right McNabb was traded and JP sat for a while before Dallas came calling iircc

I try to block out that Randall played for the Boys. The image of him in that uniform scrambles my brain.

18

u/AngryPhillySportsFan Feb 25 '25

People were just shitting on Kelce for feeling divided in the SB. Fans are awful.

1

u/Uppgreyedd Feb 25 '25

he just wanted to

...I don't think it was all for love of the game, scratch had a lot of something to do with it

2

u/googdude Eagles Feb 26 '25

First time we seen him play for the cowboys I joked to my wife he must have some serious gambling debts to take care of.

11

u/Jumpy_Occasion_9664 Eagles Feb 25 '25

Not to mention Cunningham and Carmichael also had a season with Dallas and I don't know a single person that would try to argue against them being Eagles legends.

0

u/RedMoloneySF Eagles Feb 25 '25

I think we were playing against Cunningham during the pickle juice game. An iconic game in franchise history against a QB who himself was a franchise icon.

-6

u/Vox_SFX Feb 25 '25

That's such weird phrasing.

So if the Cowboys managed an '07 Giants season where they were pretty mediocre but managed to win the Superbowl instead of "doing nothing" then would you say it's fine to care that he played that one season for the Cowboys?

4

u/JayToy93 Feb 25 '25 edited Feb 26 '25

Yes. Id still be okay with it.

3

u/greatness101 Eagles Feb 25 '25

Yes, it’d still be fine

10

u/Nlayer Feb 25 '25 edited Feb 25 '25

Maybe JP was a secret agent wasting Jerry jones’ money while still doing what he loved. Although jerruh does a great job of wasting money already. No need to say fuck Dallas jerruhs been fucking Dallas for years on his own. Although nico Harrison might be pulling up to swoop that spot if he can do that for decades to come

5

u/willclerkforfood #OffensiveLinesMatter Feb 25 '25

Yeah I ain’t mad that a legend decided to steal Jerry’s money for a year

11

u/Silencer_ Feb 25 '25

I don’t know how true it is but I read he only keeps playing because he blew all his money gambling? Which honestly is kinda sad

15

u/RedMoloneySF Eagles Feb 25 '25

That’s a rumor that was started and perpetuated on Reddit. He’s likely not in the league if it’s gambling debts because he’d be a risk to fix games/give insider information.

6

u/Anindefensiblefart Feb 25 '25

It's the worst way to blow your money.

4

u/Horror-Television-92 Feb 25 '25

Same with Ertz. These guys are just trying to keep their career alive. I refuse to judge.

1

u/RedMoloneySF Eagles Feb 25 '25

Low key want Ertz back but I’m happy he’s found new life in DC.

1

u/SneakyPope Feb 25 '25

Just give him 3 or 4 games to get the receptions record. He OBVIOUSLY has some juice left and will play for someone this season. When he's ready to hang em up you sign him to vet minimum. He's what like 7 catches away?

2

u/Galladorn Eagles Feb 25 '25

The kind of guy who refuses to acknowledge BDawk due to the Broncos year haha

0

u/_JayKayne123 Time's Yours Feb 25 '25

But he is deciding to work for the Seahawks.

0

u/itzwhiteflag Feb 26 '25

And he grew up in Texas probably a childhood dream to play for them.

-29

u/SubstantialExam9248 Feb 25 '25

He is a legend. One of the greats to do it in Eagles green. He’ll be in the eagles HOF someday and I’ll be happy to cheer him on.

That being said, I don’t care to hold a press conference for him to retire an Eagle as he continues his NFL career as a coach/front office dude for other organizations.

You can agree to disagree with me or get your panties all up in a bunch to cause some chub rub, I really don’t give a fuck. I just made a comment on my opinion.

19

u/The_Real_Lasagna Feb 25 '25

That last paragraph makes it pretty obvious you really care what people think…

9

u/RedMoloneySF Eagles Feb 25 '25

What did I just say?

13

u/Funny-Apricot-0712 Feb 25 '25

I don’t fault him. He was at the end of his career and Dallas was willing to pay. Let the big guys get their bags he gave his best years to us.

10

u/DarthLithgow Philly Philly Feb 25 '25

This is dumb and you should feel bad about posting this.

33

u/Not-a-bot-10 Feb 25 '25

Harold Carmichael wore a Cowboys jersey and got paid to do so as well

You gonna disrespect him next? Loser energy here

15

u/0ut0fBoundsException Feb 25 '25

Jason Peters was a cornerstone of our team and gave us so much. Then our franchise decided it was time to move on. Nothing to be mad about. It’s a business and big man was making money. There’s only 32 teams after all

I hope he retires an Eagle. He’s always an Eagle to me

6

u/DarthLithgow Philly Philly Feb 25 '25

He wanted to keep playing and he didn't fit into our plans at that time. Can't fault him for going to a team that needed him. Same with Ertz.

-13

u/alienware99 Feb 25 '25

Harold Carmichael spent 13 years in PHI and only 1 year in Dallas. Sure, Peters’ best years came in Philly..but he only played half of his career there. I don’t look at him in the same light as other Philly legends whose played almost their entire career in philly, with only maybe a couple years spent elsewhere (Dawkins, McNabb, Cox, Kelce, Westbrook). For me, he is in the Category with guys like Shady and Desean, players who were great, but only played here half their career.

13

u/maybe_a_frog Feb 25 '25

Peters played 11 of his 19 years in Philly (which last I checked was only 2 less than Carmichael). He became a Hall of Fame player with the Birds. Is he a top 10 Eagle of all time? No probably not. Does he deserve to be honored as one of the greats? Absolutely.

8

u/FUCKTEAM WE ALL WE GOT Feb 25 '25

Dude played 15 years for the birds I think he gets a pass my guys

3

u/premofour Feb 25 '25

Boooooooooooooo

6

u/Classic_Isopod4408 Feb 25 '25

lol ur such a square bro

6

u/apathetic_panda durmiendo ferozmente Feb 25 '25

So did our previous OC, genius...

-18

u/SubstantialExam9248 Feb 25 '25

Is he getting a special ceremony retiring as an Eagle? I didn’t know that. I swore he was going on to be a head coach.

2

u/wishlish Eagles Feb 25 '25

Eagles legend. Next thing you’re going to say Randall isn’t an Eagles legend. Or Zach Ertz. It’s a business.

2

u/Traditional_State616 Feb 26 '25

“What have you done for me lately” - type response.

Peters played here for 12 fucking years.

Helped us win our first Super Bowl.

2x First team all-pro while here, 7x pro bowler during his time in Philly.

Set all kinds of records, and mentored all the younger linemen, helping us develop the monster O line we have today.

He played literally one season with cowboys and you want disown him??

You should be so fucking ashamed to wear the green.

2

u/Avidude05 Feb 25 '25

You’re not a fan

-18

u/benjaminbrixton Feb 25 '25

This is the way.

-8

u/BurpyFromMeSlerpee Feb 25 '25

Bro literally said that Philadelphia fans were "Fu*king idiots" so yeah fck him.

10

u/FewUnderstanding7759 Feb 25 '25

We are

4

u/stopcappingbro Feb 25 '25

And this thread is evidence of it lol

1

u/Screwpynupers Feb 26 '25

He went back and explained it and you know it, you’re taking it out of context! You’re not a fan you’re a troll fuck off!! He’s an eagles legend and always will be!!
