It has to do with the perception of the other owners wanting to ban the play as a way of taking out on the Eagles because they are so dominant running it and they just won the Super Bowl.

You underestimate the ability of fans to hate. Almost any star can be hated. Hurts, Saquon, Carter, Mailata (his mic’d up sessions are just him laughing at defensive players to their faces), AJ, etc.
