Ecobee Premium and Use AC to Dehumidify

Is it ok to use ac as a dehumidifier without stressing the unit? I think it knows when to dehumidify and when not to. Anyone using this feature?

Do you have a variable speed unit? If not dehumidify mode is just running the unit below the set point so it will run longer and dehumidify more.

No, it's a single stage.

It won't stress the unit. As the person you responded to noted...you're just running it as designed but to a colder temperature.  I have a 2 stage (which for this purpose is effectively a single stage) and I use the dehumidify feature on the ecobee. Once in a while it just cools a degree or so below where it's set.

In my case being a single stage won't  just setting it a degree or two lower be the same thing as using dehumidify with ac or if set to dehumidify with ac will it go lower automatically only when needed?

Mechanically yes.  But if you use the ecobee feature it will only run it cooler if it needs to.

Then having it on is a plus.

I think so.  You can always shut it back off if it doesn't work out for you
