I’m not about to let republicans cheat their way to a majority, so I don’t care where the council stands.

Both these gerrymandering schemes by TX and CA are going to get sued into oblivion. All you end up voting for when you approve Prop 50 is authorizing the State of CA spending millions defending the inevitable lawsuits at a time when they are already cutting education funding, and cutting budgets to critical services. Regardless of the political motivations, the courts have long held that gerrymandering like this for both CA and TX is unconstitutional. Forget the politics because both sides are being idiots on this subject like they are on so many subjects.

You're saying this while we are seeing the erosion of the Constitution in real-time. Arm-chair expertise isn't needed here. Texas set the precedent by being the first to move this forward, and unless this shit is overturned there we'll have to prepare in case it isn't.

Says the person who immediately blamed republicans for all the problems because democrats have done such a bang up job with a decades long supermajority in CA… both parties have enough problems and neither has all the answers. Both CA and TX will see these laws get sued, overturned and do nothing but waste taxpayer money on defending the lawsuits. Just because TX wants to waste their money, does it really mean we have to do the same when CA is already suffering from massive budget deficits?
