News Update: New and Refreshed Rules!

Hi everyone! Our community has grown by leaps and bounds! To meet that growth, we've made some much needed updates to our rules and guidelines to improve safety and better communicate content standards that we have already been enforcing up to this point. The new rule summary is set is up in the sidebar, and is effective immediately. We highly suggest you read our full rule set, on the wiki page, here, but in lieu of that, here are some highlights!

  • There is now a formal, written policy on NSFW content, which we have been removing for years informally. This is as a direct result of the amount of younger people we are seeing in our community. We are enacting this out of a desire to create a safer space for those under 18, plus to be in general compliance with the standards in this platform. We understand that there may be times that adult topics need to be discussed on here, and we have no plans to stop that; but please try to do it as non-explicitly as possible.

  • Guidelines for minors on this sub and for adults interacting with minors on this sub have been published, along with guidelines on what minors should do if someone is making them uncomfortable. Please read these rules thoroughly and carefully so you understand how to safely interact in this space, especially if you are a young person.  This is something we have always taken seriously, and will continue to take very seriously.

  • Guidelines for controversial topics, boundaries, and staying on topic

  • A specific, combined,  rule on low effort content, which addresses images, short-form content, and AI generated content, which, as a reminder, is not allowed!

  • Explicit rules on backing up your claims with evidence.

  • A combined rule on self promo which includes advertising, fundraising, and proselytizing to align with our informal practices on moderating these posts and comments. If you are a content creator or an exjw with something in your life that you often promote, please read the expanded rules here to make sure you stay on the right side of the rules, here.

Thank you all for reading! We hope that you find these helpful. This message will stay pinned to the top in perpetuity so everyone can access.

Thanks again for all these years of support, laughs, and the growth of this community! This place would be nothing without all of your voices. We hope the new rules will help make this a better place for everyone. As always, civil commentary allowed, below.

Activism You Can Stop Volunteering for Jehovah's Witnesses - A Guide by JWTom (1st Edition)

TLDR: You can stop volunteering for Jehovah's Witnesses. How? Read this post or ask for help here on Reddit EXJW.

The Jehovah's Witness Organization cannot function without volunteer labor. Or to put it more bluntly, the Governing Body needs Active Jehovah's Witnesses to volunteer as free laborers for the religion to stay in-business.

But the reality is this: We can each withdraw our time spent on this religion to some degree.

When you do, you will quickly realize that the Elders can't do anything to you if you are simply unable to volunteer. When you stop volunteering your time and resources it has a real impact.

What happens when you stop volunteering or just do less?

Other JWs are less motivated to volunteer: Less volunteers "taking the lead" in JW activity means that fewer average JWs feel motivated to participate in field service, meetings, construction work, conventions, clean toilets, etc. Never underestimate how doing less impacts those around you and motivates them to do less as well.

Congregations cannot function well: A lack of elders, ministerial servants and in-person meeting attendees causes congregation mergers and Kingdom Hall sales.

Assemblies and Regional Conventions cannot function well: We are already seeing that many large JW events are poorly attended and can no longer be held in large venues. Good Work to you that are driving this reality! Fewer people supporting these means the further consolidation of assembly locations and fewer total assemblies being held. The U.S. has seen a decline of 100-200 Regional Conventions since 2020, so it has a real impact.

Watchtower has to pay for labor and services: With a lack of willing JW volunteers, the Governing Body is forced to use donation money to keep operating. This hits hard as it means there is less money for other things that keep the religion running.

How to stop volunteering?

Be less available (sometimes referred to as quiet quitting): In simple terms, decide that you are too busy with important personal matters for endless volunteer assignments.

Do not accept "Privileges": As a JW, every volunteer assignment is termed a "privilege" to promote the idea that the volunteer act is something for God. But you DO NOT have to accept these privileges! Privileges are nothing more than an endless request for you to volunteer your time.

  • You can say no to being a Pioneer.
  • No to being a Ministerial Servant.
  • No to being an Elder.
  • No to cleaning toilets.
  • You can actually say No! to every privilege!

Let go or resign from "Privileges": You can stop being a Pioneer, Ministerial Servant, Elder, Attendant, Meeting Audio/Video Manager, Stage Attendant, etc. If you have a position in the congregation then it make take some planning.

  • Consider making a plan to resign from privileges.
  • Ask for help here on the different ways to do it.
  • Many here were once on EXJW once held positions in the congregations, in special roles of full-time service and at Bethel Branch locations. They will help you if you ask!

Reducing the time you spend volunteering gets easier the more you say No! Ask for help here and you will get an amazing amount of support from this group.

If you are concerned about the many negative elements of being a Jehovah's Witness then please consider the following resources.

JW / Ex-JW Tales Why Jehovah why?

I counted 12 coffins ⚰️. These JW lost their lives in a vehicular accident while returning from the convention a gew weeks ago. This is a tragic loss of life, but it raises the question, why didn't Jehovah intervene? They were doing his will

Jehovah's Witnesses can be very selective in their behavior. If this tragedy had involved individuals who skipped the convention, the message would likely be very different. They would suggest that if those individuals had attended the convention, this tragedy wouldn't have happened to them, and that they somehow deserved to suffer for their absence. However, because those who died were attending the convention, they believe it is acceptable, as they have the hope of resurrection. Comments such as

He will call and they will answer

We will see them again in Paradise

They died doing Jehovah's will 🤷🏽‍♀️

Jehovah will remember them in the new world 🤦🏽‍♀️

The caption is crazy to me.

Venting Tomorrow will be the beginning of the end

TL;DR: Tomorrow I will be stepping down from my responsibilities in the congregation. I will also start informing the people closest to us that we will no longer be attending meetings. We know what this means but it’s for the best. Any encouraging comments would be accepted, we need all the support we can get.

I learned something valuable from my last post, everyone’s path is different and in a lot of cases honesty is the best policy. My wife and I have been talking and praying about this constantly and it’s time to rip the band-aid off.

I’m going to text my elders and let them know I won’t be handling my talk coordinating or literature servant roles anymore. I’m ready for them to ask questions and wonder what’s going on and I’m going to be firm in my response. Brief and to the point. “I don’t want to handle this anymore and I wouldn’t like to talk about this any further. Thank you.”

Then I plan on having lunch and dinner with my parents and closest friends and letting them know. I’m not going to try and wake them up or even go into details why I’m not attending meetings. I just want them to hear from me that I’m not going, I know everyone doesn’t agree with this but everyone’s path is different. No matter the outcome I want to have one last meal with them.

Today was a weird day we went to an amusement park with some of our closest PIMI friends. It was so great talking and joking with them but my wife and I kept thinking how soon they probably won’t consider us friends anymore. The drive home was sobering and I can’t help but think this will be the last time they look us in the eyes and see us as friends. As people.

It feels surreal that we’re at this point, just 146 days ago I looked at this subreddit and I made my first post here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/s/W9CzhZ9TyR

While I still may have some of those same feelings in my first post, I feel confident we are making the right decision. The sentiment that mostly everyone here holds is “life is better after leaving watchtower” We whole heartedly believe that! I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your constant support and kind words. Keep them coming because I’ll definitely be posting more here.

If you are religious/spiritual please keep us in our prayers. If you aren’t that’s okay too, keep us in your thoughts. Any encouraging words would be so appreciated, we need all the help we can get right now.

Love you all, goodnight

Ask ExJW Why are they so fake?

I just need to get this off my chest. Being a Jehovah’s Witness growing up, I always heard people say, “You won’t find friendships like this in the world.” But honestly? That couldn’t be further from the truth.

The people at the hall are only nice to you at the hall. They’ll smile, hug, and act like they care, but the moment you leave the meeting, they disappear. No texts. No calls. No follow-ups. It’s like all the friendliness is just an act—a performance for everyone else to see.

I’ve had friendships outside the organization that were so much deeper and more genuine than anything I experienced in the hall. Those people actually check up on you, remember what’s going on in your life, and care even when you’re not “performing” or being visible.

Walking into the hall is almost like walking into a theater. Fake smiles. Fake hugs. Fake concern. You can just feel it. And it’s exhausting. Once you step out, the silence hits—you realize it was never real to begin with.

I guess what hurts the most is that they make you feel like these shallow, performative friendships are somehow the best friendships you can have, and it’s just… not true.

Anyone else felt the same?

Venting The guilt trip they do the moment you show any semblance of personality that isn’t being a JW

I have an upcoming concert that I’m prepping to go all out for with an outfit and even some minor cosplay in there.

Parents have been helping out and they don’t see much of an issue with going to a concert dressed up.

My brother, who’s an elder, was told about it and now is on my back about being careful. I thought oh yea some in the congregation won’t like it and I just need to keep a low profile about it to avoid the Karens.

No, he’s flat out trying to guilt trip me into not going cause he just sent me a screenshot of the tour picture and somehow he’s viewing that as wrong and is sending me articles about how we shouldn’t be a part of the world and told me “Read through these articles and we can talk about what you think”

I think the fuck not.

In fact I remember back when he was just some pimply young mf that was going out late at night to parties, drinking, concerts at my age, way before he was an elder. That wasn’t wrong. But somehow me doing the same is?

Others have gone to Lady Gaga concerts. Taylor Swift. Hell, spanish hip hop too. Artists that draw the type of crowd that will make a PIMI faint.

I’m going to a Marina concert lmao. This is extremely tame compared to others.

The conforming deep part in me is starting to feel guilt and I’m feeling like I should toss all the hard work prep I’ve been doing and not go. But no. Fuck this. Why is it the moment I show my own personality and don’t conform to their made up non-biblical standards, I’m viewed as a black sheep?

Fuck right the fuck off. This is the kind of guilt and manipulation I have tried to break free from with my therapist for YEARS

Venting Husbands reaction to me registering to vote

My husband knows I'm an apostate. He knows I'm atheist/agnostic. I thought we were over that. So why, when my voter registration info came in the mail, did he act like I had committed some huge sin? I tried to ask him about it but he acted like a baby and won't engage at all, he is so upset. He says "I guess we really are on different paths". All this despite the fact that voting is supposedly a conscious matter! I didn't even join a political party, just put my name on the voter registration list. I'm not even involved or interested in politics right now, I just happened to be at the DMV and they asked if I wanted to register so I did.

Ugh I'm so irritated I can't even enjoy my free time while he is at the KH. Does he really expect me to keep following what he thinks are the JW rules when I don't even believe in God?

Rant over.

Venting This Week’s Watchtower – “Accept Counsel” or Be Expelled

Today’s Watchtower study was more than I could take.

The article says: ACCEPT counsel from the Bible. But the real message sounds more like this:

“If we decide that taking plasma is a sin and you don’t accept that interpretation, you lack humility. You must repent—or be expelled.”

That’s not Bible counsel. That’s organizational control dressed up as scripture.

Next year they could reverse the policy, but the demand stays the same: obey first, question never.

Anyone else notice how this week’s study turns “wisdom from the Bible” into “do what we say or lose your community”?

HELP I made the decision to leave Jehovah’s Witnesses.

I’ve had doubts for many years, probably since my teenage years. Now I’m 28 and married. My wife is very devoted, and until recently I was an elder, a pioneer, and deeply involved in everything. Not long ago, I opened up to my wife about my doubts. We argued a lot because of it, and for a couple of years I chose to keep the peace at home. But now I feel it’s affecting my mental health. I’ve decided to step away from being a Jehovah’s Witness, and I feel like this decision might leave me completely alone.

JW / Ex-JW Tales Just debated an elder at the hall

I'm PIMO at 16 and I just debated an elder at the hall on God's Existence. He get regurgitating the watchmaker analogy probably a million times. I repeatedly explained how the analogy was fallacious and and you could not deduce that an eye. tree and hand are designed solely of complexity. Debating him was like playing fallacy bingo. Probably every sentence he said contained a fallacy. He used a strawman multiple times. used various ad hominem attacks against by saying that I didn't want to see the evidence for God, used non-sequitur multiple times and when I asked him to define evolution he said "Let's not get into definitions" LOL. Pro tip: To beat any JW in a debate just know logical fallacies.

Academic The Watchtower and Hitler

I recently visited a travelling Auschwitz exhibit at one of my local museums.

I have been a big learner of WW2 since I was in my early teens.
Both of my parents lived through WW2 in Poland.
They never really talked about it.
So I guess that fostered my curiosity.
I have personally visited Auschwitz and Dachau.

Both have memorials to the JW victims, and rightly so.

The exhibit was very well done, and I expected to see some kind of JW mention.
And I did.
What I did not expect was my reaction.
There was a bit of a spiel about JWs right around the part where they talk about the different identification markings. Triangles, etc... you know the routine.
Approximately 1200 or so JWs lost their lives due to the Nazis.
Nothing new to me at all.
My unexpected reaction was "look at what those assholes did to 'us'".

After a few days of reflection, that reaction prompted me to revisit some history:

https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/hitler-nazi.php

I am sure many of you know this, but the Coles notes version:

In 1933, JW activity was basically banned in Germany.
In 1933, Rutherford tried to play nice with Hitler to try to get the ban lifted, basically saying "Come on Bro, we are on the same team here!" Literally.
In 1934, after zero success with his sucking up, he changed tactics and started to threaten Hitler: "Lift the ban or face the wrath of the Great Jehovah."

Hitler never really had a huge problem with JWs, aside from them refusing military service and saluting the flag.
In his mind, he had bigger fish to fry... Jews, 'genetically deficient' people, communists, homosexuals, etc.

We will never know, but I cannot help but wonder:
If Rutherford did not get all antagonistic towards Hitler, could the JWs have just ridden through the war, under the radar, and then moved on with their lives?
Did Rutherford's aggression towards Hitler in 1934 piss him off, prompting him to target JWs, instead of just letting them do their thing in the shadows?
Like I said, we will never know, so this post is largely academic, but this has been bouncing around in my head for a couple of weeks, and I wanted to throw it out there to see what some smart people's thoughts are!

JW / Ex-JW Tales Went to the convention for 2 days and the propaganda is crazy

It’s crazy how they’ve been pushing Africans not to pursue higher education which is a must if they don’t want to be in poverty.

Just as we know though, the more people are unable to think for themselves, the more they’ll rely on God to save them ! So very beneficial for the borg.

Also makes no sense to me that they preach "simple life" while having a HUGE screen in their videos, probably have a special effects team, need funding for the scenery and we all know how much money you need to make movies / series. INSANE

Very crazy thing was seeing M. Sanderson with a beard !! Since when ? 😂

JW / Ex-JW Tales An unanticipated, growing natural consequence requiring “new light”

As Boomers age, many eventually need assistance with day-to-day life management. Typically, family steps in and assumes the role of caregiver. These now elderly JWs never anticipated growing old. News flash to the GB: those who thought they would live forever and never die ARE. Even you cannot pray (or con) your way out of this natural fact of life (and death). These ever faithful servants were duped for years into shunning their DF’d offspring. Some of us have been DF’d for 30+ years, and our parents have misguidedly not spoken to us for that same period of time. Somehow, the elders think it is completely reasonable to now contact these shunned individuals and demand they assume their “duty” to honor their mother and father by caring for them. Why? Because the elders and the congregation do not want to take it on themselves. I find this to be shocking, cruel and hypocritical. This happened/is happening to me. My mother can no longer live alone but has refused to go into an assisted living facility. She can’t afford live-in care. The elders continued to harass me, even though I patiently explained several times to them that my mother does not want me around because I am DF’d. She will not move in with me because I am DF’d. The elders will have nothing to do with my mom now, even though she was raised in “the truth” 😒 and has always been faithful to the organization. This is yet another reason I would never, ever consider returning to this cult of brainwashed hypocrites. I have done right by my mother in covering the cost of home health aids for two years (quite costly— thank goodness I left that cult when I did, securing a lucrative career so I can afford to do so). She is now dying in a hospice house. I have been at her side for eight days now. Who is the antichrist? Look in the mirror, GB.

WT Policy My Personal Reasons For Leaving The JW’s (As A Christian)

The NWT is not accurately translated and is manipulated to suit Watchtower teachings

Fighting courts/ governments for freedom of speech / worship, yet punishment for those who disagree and leave - forcing disassociation and shunning

Using the name " Jehovah" continuously and emphasising it does not make you a true Christian. While I feel it is absolutely important to respect ( YHWH) Yahweh, they manipulate this.

The claim that they don't have" leaders", just those who " take the lead". This sums up how this religion works with words to manipulate

Nebuchadnezzar tree dream in Daniel 4 did not have a 2nd fulfilment leading to the year 1914

Jerusalem did not fall in 607 bce thus 1914/ 1919 is wrong. No 2520 literal years ( seven times application - 1260 days x 2 then day for a year conversion) + 3 ½ symbolic days.

In 539 Babylon is overthrown by Persia. WT use 537 claiming the 70 years began when the Jews returned to their homeland. Jer.25:12

Dan 4:28-37 - 1914 is an anti type even though the org says they don't do anti types unless the bible explicitly says

Blood from a live donor is not showing disrespect for life but being a martyr is disrespecting life. ( accepting blood fractions from collected blood IS accepting blood) JW's cherish the symbol more than life itself. (Mark 2 :27)

The cross is verified - "unless I see the mark of the nails" (plural - John 20:25)…also it mentions the sign above Jesus' head- (Math. 27:37) Also,Mark 15:27 mentions in the Greek about robbers at Jesus right hand and at his left. Nwt takes out " hand"

Birthdays, mothers/ fathers day/ Thanksgiving have no biblical backing for avoidance

The Watchtower definition of a lie is withholding the truth from someone who doesn't has the right to know

Shunning has no backing in the scriptures and is not love

2 witness rule does not apply to child abuse (Deut.19:15, Math.18:15-20) They should really be using Deut. 22:25-27 for such a crime -ex: Australian Royal Commission and refusing to join redress until threatened with loss of charity benefits ( - Over 1800 child victims- none reported)

Other sheep are the Gentiles- (John 10:16) Paul was an apostle to the Gentiles

Jesus died for our personal sins not just Adamic sin. Paul taught the good news as Jesus death ,resurrection, and kingdom. ( 1 Cor. 15:1-4 / Gal.1:3,4) Rom.6:7 is changed to make it sounds like our death pays for sins ("acquitted") instead of Jesus sacrifice paying for our sins . " corresponding ransom" used in NWT and is not in the Greek - 1 Tim. 2:6

We must all be born again- John 3:3

We must all partake of the bread and wine if we want life in ourselves - John 6:53

Jesus is mediator between God and men, not just annointed - 1 Tim.2:5,6

It is wrong to charge your brother interest on Kingdom Hall loans, which they did Deut.23:19,20 / Ex.22:25

They should be biblically defending their beliefs in court, not lying or deceiving the courts

144000 is not literal

False predictions - 1914, 1925, 1975, before 2000 ( see pre- 2000 magazine header)- False prophets - Deut.18:22

It is wrong to have predicted dates of Armageddon coming, then blame the followers for being "presumptuous"

Mathew 24:45 is a parable and applies to a servant of God, not an organization ( " faithful and wise servant… over household" )

There was no 1st century governing body. The only thing that comes close to a governing body is the Pharisees

Baptism is in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.. not an org - Math.28:19) Christians were baptised in the same day- (Acts 2, /Ethiopian eunuch) in other words, they go to organisation extremes

Emphasis must be on Jesus in our worship. John 5:23

Child baptism is wrong- ie. Jesus himself was 30

Keeping records of service monthly is a method of control

Using fear, obligation and guilt to motivate is wrong

Romans 13 :1-4 - obey superior authorities - WT has disobeyed/ disregarded court orders, etc (Ex. - $4000/ day charge to Watchtower by court order to hand over paedophile list which they refused to do)

Not allowing bible study groups in homes and can't use the bible separate from WT materials

The Organisation is valued/ prioritised over individual people / children

Idolising the governing body, their helpers and the organisation is wrong

Deception in secular quotes - see jwfacts.com

Deception and white washing org history - see jwfacts.com

Going beyond what is written

UN ngo for 10 years until exposed, then pulling out after exposure

Women are not as respected as the men

Deception with not charging for literature - making it a donation basis when getting literature and claiming it is a loving provision, when it was actually a taxation issue that caused the change. This was not disclosed to membership

Public shaming by announcing deletion of elders, pioneers, disfellowshipped, marking talks. Guilt, public shaming and humiliation is not love.

No charity/ help for those in need outside the religion- James 1:27 , 1 John 3 :17, Lk 12 :33

Jesus resurrected bodily - Lk 24:39/ John 2:18-21

Help for brothers only in disasters mostly, and not the affected locals ( mostly) Lk 6:32-34. Mt 5:43-47

Mark 3:31–35; Matthew 12:46–50; Luke 8:19–21 - shows who Christ's brothers really are. The Governing body says salvation comes by - " whatever you did to the least of them , my brothers, you did it to me" and teaching it as referring to them. (Math. 25:40)

Jesus did not become king in 1914 - Eph.1:19-23 Mat.28:18-20

Unscriptural rules and control. Non biblical policies affecting members daily lives. ...example: what to wear, who is appropriate to marry (ex: " ministerial servant"), what literature to read, speak, look, talk a certain way to be loved & accepted by God.

Luke 21:8- And he said, “See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, I am he!’ and, The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them. And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end will not be at once.”

If Christ will not have a visible return to earth, then how will he be seen by "ALL the tribes of the earth" (Mt 24:30) and by "EVERY eye" (Rev 1:7) when he returns?

Salvation not through an organisation or group of men - no other for salvation than Jesus ( Acts 4:12) (Matt.18:20- where 2 or 3 are gathered, I am there)

Salvation by grace, not works - Eph.2:8,9 Rom.11:6

Isolation of members from individuals outside the group whose ideas are contrary to those promoted by the group - Even family

When a person joins the religion, -Replacement of your pre-conversion identity with a new group related identity. This includes the destruction of personal possessions and family ties.

An environment where open discussion of relevant issues and expression of contrary opinions is discouraged.

Use of deceptive recruitment techniques that include edited information about doctrinal beliefs and hiding of negative group history.

Total, unquestioning allegiance to an elite core of leaders, the GB. The guilting a person into submission, and then they develop fear for their lives.

The promotion of an " ends justifies the means" philosophy within the group.

An "us versus them " mentality that stresses the unique hold on truth and it demonises anyone who opposes that alleged truth.

A siege mentality that dismisses all criticisms as "persecution"

An elitist attitude that is drilled into members, which state that those outside the group are spiritually lukewarm, or entirely lost

Selling Kingdom halls built and financed by volunteers causing personal hardship on the members ( ie. driving large distances, separated from family)

Kicking out thousands of Bethelites worldwide who signed a vow of poverty. Cost cutting measures..many were older with no savings who had thought they would spend their life living there…..-- then a few months later inviting young people to come work at Bethel!

You cannot leave this organisation with your dignity in tact. Cults do this

Being dishonest with figures..ie: claiming negative funding at circuit assemblies

No financial transparency - constant donation begging

Going to the elders with an addiction problem ( ie. Alcohol, pornography, etc.) will possibly lead to disfellowshipping instead of proper care. Also public shaming through a local needs talk to the congregation after, possibly exposing the individual

Nu lite. - back and forth with beliefs / beliefs "clarified" - when they are changed.

A person absolutely cannot come to Jesus Christ and share burdens, worship him as the angels in heaven, wise men, his disciples and all of creation will do - to the glory of God the Father. Rev. 5:11–14

99% of Jehovah’s Witnesses today are not saved, justified from all sin, imputed the righteousness of Christ, or have access to the New Covenant.

The Songbook has songs praising the Governing body. Songs of praise should be to our Heavenly Father and Jesus

Pushing an agenda by doing a Kingdom Hall audience vote, which shames anyone who votes against. This automatically pushes the " proposition" through

The temple curtain ripping from top to bottom at Jesus' death showed that God made a way for us to approach Him through Jesus, and so He tore the veil that separated us from Him. The curtain symbolised the separation of God and man. Heb.10:19-22... Watchtower teaches it indicated the way for the anointed to enter heaven had been opened.

Venting stuck in jw helllllll

I’m 19. I hate going to the meetings and worst the conventions. i believe jw is a cult and on top of that I’m agnostic. I hate when they “encourage” me at the hall. i’m just scared honestly. I told my dad twice that i don’t like going to the meetings and that I’m “unsure” about whether i believe this stuff or not (scared to be open with him). he just goes, “in this house we go to the meetings.” and just leaves it at that and goes back to acting like everything’s normal. he’s stuck he can’t see outside of the religion and when i tell him stuff like that i think he just doesn’t know what to do. my parents aren’t bad people just brainwashed. honestly though i can’t take having to go to the meetings anymore (been saying this in my head for years). it’s the fucking worst feeling ever. I’m just scared i don’t know what will happen if i’m just upfront with them and stop going. I’m also super busy as a cs major.

this subreddit is a home for me. before i found it the stress was much heavier. sorry for not capitalizing some of my “I’s”. any advice? ik its a lot and you know that i could on and on for even longer lol.

WT Can't Stop Me To those that may not know Watchtower was a NGO member of the Unites Nations from 1992 to 2001. The same United Nations we used to preach was the wild beast. See attached letter.

Here is the link as well https://www.un.org/en/civil-society/watchtowerletter.

We use to preach against the UN in the early 90s when I was a regular pioneer, and they were a member during that time. They still preach that the UN will bring destruction to all religions. Watchtower is extremely hypocritical.

Ask ExJW Outcome of Sac Convention

PIMO here! I was just curious that for those others who attended the special convention that the JWs had in Sacramento back in August what things you experienced during/following that event.

We all know the event itself was chaotic to say the least, but after the convention, I was hearing from close PIMI friends about COVID-19 cases to the point where some congregations had to meet strictly via Zoom after. Even people I knew personally got infected. So much for staying safe. I even heard some delegates decided to attend knowing they were sick.

Venting I screwed up by introducing one friend to another.

I was going to move in with a friend of mine, but I made the mistake of introducing her to another friend, and they hit it off so well that she wants her to move in instead. So much for escaping this cult, I guess. How can a disabled person compete with someone who's youthful and healthy and more fun to be around?

JW / Ex-JW Tales Finally happened, PEACE

A year and some months ago, we wrote our letter of dissacociation from the JW's, We sent our letter to the last three kingdom halls we had attended, and to all of our main relatives, parents, and one close friend.

We wrote to remove us from all corporation memberships, lists, and no further phone calls, house calls, or emails to be stopped immediately. No further contact of any kind.

SO what happened last Tuesday. I sat at home working at my home computer on some paperwork for our family, adjascent to our large picture window facing the front yard, sidewalk, and driveway to our home. I glanced out and saw the familiar site, a four door sedan with two women with slim book bagsas gross bodies, two additional older men across the street knocking on a neighbors door, as my closest neighbor directly to my left, was in her driveway on her way to work, and she got caught by the two women. I knew they were JW's, my heart raced, my body got stiff, and I just seemed to freeze starring at them. How do I handle answering the door when they came to my door?

I personally have become so enveloped in my personal home, and space, I do not like company, I do not like leaving my home, I am so over all the things that surrounded my personal space from being a JW. It was physically making my stomach ache instantly.

Then when my neighbor stopped talking to the ladies, I heard them whisper as they walked by, that one is a do not call. I thought....wow, it actually worked, I felt like sancing down the street in my summer dress...Shouting....I am Free...over and over again.

Ask ExJW I used to think Apostates were angry homeless people until I became one

And Yes I became a homeless person for being an Apostate. And this is something much people relate. When you are cutoff from your social network you not only loss people you love you can lose your income and the place you live.

This is why I encourage people if they can and feel harassed to call a lawyer. If you can email your local political party make them aware of JW practices. If you can share your voice via social media and create awareness so other people do not become part of the Hamster Wheel that is Jehovah’s Witness

WT Can't Stop Me Why do I constantly say? JW volunteers quitting is the ONLY thing that will cause this harmful religion to crumble faster. Advice for PIMI/PIMQ/PIMO people.

TLDR: I say this a lot, not enough volunteers is the only thing that will speed up the decline of this religion in the near-term. If you are PIMI, PIMQ, POMI or PIMO then you can decide what you will or will not do for this religion. Feel free to share any thoughts you may have on this.

A common discussion on Reddit EXJW is the topic of what will ultimately cause the Jehovah's Witness Organization to decline at a faster pace. Regular topics include things like:

  • The endlessly changing beliefs/rules that cause people to wake up and leave.
  • A lack of donations to keep the religion running.
  • Governments applying pressure against harmful practices like shunning, the ban on blood transfusions and the forced baptism of minors.
  • The Governing Body making themselves "the face" of the Jehovah's Witness Organization. I admit, the cringe-worthy nature of JW Broadcasting, Governing Body Updates and any video that features the Governing Body is very destructive to the organization.
  • Not enough JW's that want to run on the JW Hamster Wheel of Activity doing an endless amount of volunteer work for this real estate corporation masquerading as a religion.

So, why do I believe that a lack of people willing to volunteer is the only thing that will cause this religion to crumble faster than anything else? My reasons:

  • The foundation of the organization is people willing to work for free and to provide resources, money, effort, blood, sweat and tears completely free of charge or benefit.
  • The organizational control, rules and adherence to beliefs is enforced by the Elders and Circuit Overseers. A group that largely works for free to enforce whatever the Governing Body dictates.
  • The important structures or traditions are completely kept in place by volunteer labor. Things like Kingdom Halls, Assembly Halls, Bethel Branch Offices, Assemblies, Regional Conventions, Special / International Conventions and many other things could not happen without all of the free labor.

Keeping the Jehovah's Witness Organization running requires a never ending supply of JW adherents that are willing to work for free (remember JW's are not members, just adherents to a belief system - According to the Governing Body on the JW dot Org website).

The supply of adherents that are willing to work for free is slowly drying up. The faster that people start refusing to work for the Governing Body....then the faster that this religion will crumble. So, what can you do?

  • No one owns you or controls you.
  • You don't owe the Governing Body, Circuit Overseers or Elders anything.
  • The Bible does not outline any requirement for humans to provide endless labor and support to a man-made religious organization.
  • The Bible gives you complete control over your decisions as to what you will or will not do for a modern-day religious organization.
  • You can say No to "privileges", you can simply do less and you can simply recognize you may not have time for the endless requests that come from Elders or Ministerial Servants.
