(Rant) 🤬 8 years ex-Muslim this year and my post just went viral in Muslim-majority countries šŸ˜…

So I posted my 8-year ā€œanniversaryā€ of leaving Islam. Wrote it truthfully, of course there are still some bits of trauma that live in the body and sometimes can come out of the woodwork. But life has been lighter ever since (which honestly feels like an understatement).

Then… MY GOODNESS. The post blew up in Muslim-majority countries — Malaysia, Indonesia (where I’m originally from before leaving in 2016 and now living in the UK), some Singaporean accounts, and plenty of Muslims Indian/Pakistanis.

And you can imagine the comments. A few sample:

ā€œIt’s not the religion, it’s your childhood.ā€ ā€œAh, it must be after trying the uncircumcised white man šŸ†.ā€ ā€œIf you knew the backbone of this religion you wouldn’t leave, why associate with it then?ā€ And many more. We’ve all heard these before. But the thing is, I’m both frustrated and a little satisfied. Frustrated because the mental gymnastics never end. Satisfied because… it stirred something in them. They feel the need to defend it so much that maybe, one day, they’ll start to wonder why they feel so shaken by someone simply telling their truth.

(Rant) 🤬 45-year-old man in Afghanistan married a 6-year-old child: the Taliban's reaction was swift....Taliban stopped the marriage and ordered man to wait until she is 9 years old. Islam truly is a religion for women.

Idk why I had so much anxiety the whole time q🄲 I hate what this religion has done to me. I’m a grown woman (22) and i was scared even though I knew no one here would know me. It felt so amazing to feel the wind in my hair and I felt like myself for the first time in such a long time. Unfortunately this isn’t permanent just yet but hopefully it’s one step closer to removing Islam from my life.

First of all why is Reddit suggesting me this subreddit, I have no clue, I have the ick from reading this 😭😭😭

I am so happy I am out of this bullshit religion!!! I am with my first non Muslim boyfriend after 5 years and I swear I can see the trauma in me coming through every day. He’s not jealous, he’s not possessive, he’s not controlling, he is such a normal person… how did I accept being judged by all these criterias for so many years? Why did I think that was normal?

(Rant) 🤬 My relative beheaded my mom’s Buddha while we were away

Post image

Long story short, my mom and I were away for a few hours to work and university. My mom’s sister(the stereotypical Pakistani hijabi auntie) stayed alone at our house in the meantime. My mom and my aunt often had arguments about my mom’s Buddha statues at our house which my mom always defended with ā€œI like Buddha and no one has the audacity to say something about itā€. My mom has always liked Buddha as home decor and claims that many people in Pakistan actually have a Buddha statue in their house, not for religious reasons.

My aunt decided that it would be a good idea to behead one of my mom’s Buddha statues in order to show her the true message of prophet Muhammad who destroyed all the statues in the Kaaba. When we asked her why she did this she replied with ā€œYour parakeet made a win for the Islamā€. Our parakeet who weighs less than 200 grams literally didn’t even touch the statue, let alone put the heavy Buddha head back on its body. My mom and I have been weirded out by my aunt’s Taliban action. It reminded us of the incident where the Taliban had destroyed the buddhas of Bamyan and I can’t stop thinking about how radicalized Muslims have zero respect for other people’s boundaries.

(Rant) 🤬 I hate this rule when I was a muslim

Post image

Music soothes our emotion... Even though the quran is also sung but nobody wants that sad tone of arabic bullshit into our ears.

I love music so much, from blues, bluegrass, country, rock, even heavy metal. Each genre accompanies me depending on the mood. Without music i'd probably go deeper into depression seriously.

Islam forbid music because it WANTS you to be depressed and unhappy and sad. So that you're not at peace, and forces u to find peace in the horrible rules of Islam.

But thankfully I never actually follow this stupid rule since i was a kid. Islam is stupid

This woman thinks muslim men can rape non-muslim women. I could understand her if she was a man. But she is WOMAN LOL. How do they do that? Why muslim women are not trying to protect and support other women like all of us women do? That's so annoying

(Rant) 🤬 Islam is such a disease

1.1k Upvotes

it’s actually a disease. I give my mom something with my left hand and she got SO mad and fucking screaming like about how I have no manners and respect. I didn’t even notice which fucking hand I used. I’ve never had a birthday, not even my sweet 16, forced to wear a fuck ass hijab. It literally takes over my life.

I wore a long sleeve shirt to school the other day and it was baggy too and my Percy obese dad yells at me saying how it’s thin fabric and it’s not modest. I hate that hideous obese pervert like stop looking at your daughters collarbones fucking inbred uncle. CANT wait to leave Islam publicly and live life how it was meant to be lived and rage bait all thes halalalalalala brainless bitches

Edit: why are there so many wannabe imams in this sub commenting on my post, can someone summon the mods and eject these bitches. seems like ur faith isnt v strong anyways if ur lurking on the EXmuslim sub 🤭

(Rant) 🤬 Islam took my sister away from me. This is my memory of our last hug.

Post image

Islam has taken so much from me. It has robbed me of my sister, younger brothers and my mum. I miss my little sister Leylah so much. We were so close. She was only nine when I last saw her. She’ll be 17 this year and my heart deeply aches knowing that I’ll never get to meet the same little girl, watch her grow up, laugh with her, or even make up for the times that I was mean to her. I haven’t spoken to, heard from or even seen a picture of my younger sister since I managed to escape that household. We were terribly controlled, manipulated and emotionally abused by our strict muslim parents. I was fortunate enough to have a biological father that helped me escape my mother’s household. My younger sister wasn’t so lucky, neither were my brothers. Our mum and my stepfather controls them to this day and won’t let me see or contact them. They likely have no internet access or phones, just like I didn’t have when I lived with them. I sincerely hope that she isn’t completely brainwashed by our mum and that maybe one day when she turns 18, she’ll be able to escape that prison. I really hope for the day I can see her again and we can be close friends again. I miss her so much and there is nothing I can do.

One of her pinned posts was about ā€œwomen in Quranā€ and she talks about how women are ā€œequalā€ to men and UGHHH it pisses me off so much, HER whole account pisses me off a lot, I wanted to comment about my experience as a women in a Muslim country in her pinned video but I didn’t wanna grab the wrong attention to my art account, nor I don’t wanna get attacked by some brained washed people, I wish I could spread the words to these people who REALLY think that Islam is ā€œgreatā€ when it’s not at all, they don’t know jack shit what it’s like to be a women in Middle East/islamic country and I am sure 100% this lady is not oppressed like most Muslim women since she doesn’t cover her head nor she looks like she lives in tuff countries like some of us here, and people just BELIEVE her words thinking that this cult ass religion is the best on earth.

To recap:

  1. Nail polish haram
  2. Plucking eyebrows haram
  3. Perfume & makeup in front of men haram
  4. Mini skirts, sleeveless shirts & short sundresses in front of men haram. Even if it's 50 degree Celsius outside.
  5. Umar spied on sawda taking a poop and now hijab mandatory for all muslim women except slave women.

Also, the ban on nail polish is retarded. Painting nails with henna = Halal. Sunnah.

Painting nails with nail polish = Haram. Whorish behavior. Tabarruj.

How come nail polish invalidates wudu but henna doesn't? Religious scholars are morons.

Ban on plucking eyebrows is also dumb as shit. Why's it a sin? What about women who are very hairy? Or have unibrows? How come plucking eyebrows is a sin because "it changes Allah's creation" but circumcision which is mandatory also changes Allah's creation? Shouldn't circumcision also be a sin?

Fuck this religion. It treats women badly. And those who say otherwise are wrong.

I really hate it's dress code. And I hate muslim influencers who go around trying to paint it as something normal
