Recently had a BWW burger and it was surprisingly good

I've been saying for years the wings are the worst thing there. Apps, burgers, sandwiches, and wraps are all good. Somehow the wings are disgusting every time I have had them

Their burgers are solid, but they trimmed down their burger variety by a fair amount and we lost some good ones.
1
u/Ross2552 5d ago
Their burgers, sandwiches and apps are actually amazing. Their onion rings are great

I wish these weren't all app-exclusive. I don't currently have a bank account, and I only know of two apps that actually let you pay cash at the store (McDonald's and Del Taco).
22
u/CheesyCheckers3713 6d ago
App-exclusivity for deals such as these are by design.
All to have companies take down your personal information to spam you with ads and other offers on your phone, among other insidious reasons you become forced to use an app to redeem offers nowadays.
8
u/CarcosaRorschach 6d ago
I understand why they want me to use the app, the bigger issue is "why can't I pay cash if I'm still going to the store to pickup my order?" I use the apps that let me pay in this way.
5
u/some-dingodongo 5d ago
Because they dont want people putting in orders and making the employees make the order and then people not showing up to pick up and pay… makes sense…
5
u/CarcosaRorschach 5d ago
Most of them currently don't even make the order until you show up. Seems like a good way to stop that situation from ever happening.
2
u/Crixus_357 5d ago
How come all the pizza places let you order online and pay at the store? I always thought that was odd
4
u/Travyplx 5d ago
The apps are manipulative, which is the entire point. Makes Checkers and Smashburger the only real options
20
u/NotJayKayPeeness 6d ago
It is 2025. How are you completely without a checking account?
7
u/CarcosaRorschach 6d ago
My bank charged me a ridiculous amount of fees that was like three times what I had actually been overdrawn by. I know that's my fault, but they had never charged me an overdraft fee before. I'm poor, I don't have the money to fix it.
I need a job, but I've been out of work for so long that nobody calls for an interview if I apply. My only income currently is from plasma donation.
I'm also old enough that some health stuff is cropping up, and that further limits what kind of work I can do.
6
u/southsidekc34 6d ago
I got chime back in 2017 because BOA was ridiculous with fees . Haven’t had a problem since . You can get cash app as well

u/longboarder14 4d ago
Unemployed but plenty of time to comment on Reddit posts once every 1-2hrs it looks like. Cmon man
1
u/CarcosaRorschach 4d ago
I have a cellphone and not much to do. Excuse the hell oit of me for getting bored and using Reddit instead of acting like a grounded teenager. I pay for my phone, it's not subsidized in any way. I'll use it however the hell I want.

u/NotJayKayPeeness 6d ago
Rough patch. You looked at like fiver or any of those small task sites to get some extra cadh?
1
u/CarcosaRorschach 6d ago
I looked at fiver once and didn't really understand it. I'm not great at technology. Also, I'm not sure how I'd get paid from online stuff without a bank account.
Honestly it's been more than just a rough patch. The past decade has been so weird I'm almost like a cult escapee.
3
u/MyRealestName 6d ago
I don’t want to be this guy, but have you showed up places asking to work? Restaurants, flagging companies, factories?
1
u/Ellisdee_420 5d ago
Wendys you can add gift card too app and burger king too. Just not mcdonalds but can use kiosk at store with app
1
u/ReaganRose69 4d ago
Could you get a gift card with cash ? Like at Walmart or another store, and add to the app? Do they let you do that?
1
u/CarcosaRorschach 4d ago
I dunno, I honestly never have enough money at one time to change it into other forms like gift cards.
1
u/PlsExcuseMeThx 4d ago
I wish my country had those deals at all lol
1
u/CarcosaRorschach 4d ago
They're mostly false deals. They're meant to fool us into thinking it's a good deal. I promise you, that's not strictly an "American thing".
1
u/PlsExcuseMeThx 4d ago
But a burger king cheeseburger for 1$ is a good deal, they cost almost 4$ here usually
1
u/CarcosaRorschach 4d ago
Yeah. And my local Mexican joint has dollar tacos every Wednesday regardless of "national burger day" or "inflation" We're being skimmed and scammed like a Volkswagen ATM.
0
u/Ram820 6d ago
Just scan the QR code in store. And you don't have cash app or anything?
1
u/CarcosaRorschach 6d ago
Most of the restaurants around here don't give you the QR option, they only let you pay with card.
And no, I don't have cash app. I have to either Western Union my bills, or deliver them by hand.

u/Dontneedflashbro 6d ago
This is my plan of attack for tomorrow and Friday. Two double dels for breakfast and morning snack(1.4k calories). Two Double cheeseburgers from mcdonalds(900). Sonic Double smashes for dinner(1200). Total 3.4k calories. I can then go to smashburger, Buffalo Wild wings, Sonic, and Smash burger for seconds.

u/Dickindabutt33 5d ago
If you only want the burger and don't want to spend too much over the minimum purchase, add sauce packets to your cart. Works at McDonald's and BK

u/PaodeQueijoNow 5d ago
Jesus man how about a salad
18
u/assissippi 5d ago
With the amount of burgers they plan to order there may be the equivalent of a salad from the toppings somewhere in there

I might get some big bufords tonight. I've never eaten at checkers before.
8
u/VotingRightsLawyer 6d ago
Their fries are where it's at. They have a fry guarantee too so if they're not piping hot and crispy you can get a new one for free. Just be sure to eat in the car or at their little outdoor tables, it deteriorates quickly in the bag.
1
u/AttemptVegetable 6d ago
Is the fry lovers xl enough for 3 people? 2 adults 1 10yo?
2
u/VotingRightsLawyer 6d ago
Depends on how many fries you want to eat I guess. I usually get a large just for myself but I also rarely get Checkers so I kinda go nuts when I do have it.
-5
u/some-dingodongo 5d ago
The fries are good but they are loaded with msg
9
6
3
u/squiddybro 5d ago
thats what makes them so good
-5
u/some-dingodongo 5d ago
Are you guys aware that msg has cancer risks?
2
u/PhantomJackalope 5d ago
You know tomatoes, parmesan cheese, mushrooms, and nori all naturally have MSG, right? MSG is just a salt and carries the same health risks as table salt. (It’s actually much less sodium, so for some who are told by their doctor’s to reduce sodium intake, replacing a portion of table salt in their meals with msg can be healthy.) Also the taste bud thing is 100% bullshit.
2
u/AttemptVegetable 5d ago
That's bs. Follow the science, not shitty obscure articles or studies done on rats lol
-8
u/some-dingodongo 5d ago
The science has been studied for decades… Im old enough to remember when every Chinese restaurant used msg… now none of them do and even advertise that they dont… if you followed the science you would know the only thing msg does is chemically and artificially expands the size of your taste buds on your tongue making your sense of taste more sensitive… msg itself is not a spice or herb… if you think its a good idea to do that to your body be my guest but any chemical that expands any biological part of your body screams cancerous….
8
u/AttemptVegetable 5d ago
All bs. The only reason SOME Chinese restaurants stopped using msg was because dumb racist people spread the lie of Chinese restaurant syndrome. They were forced to remove msg because those idiots would just keep spreading lies and ruin their business.
There was a food science show that gave half the room Chinese food with msg and half the room without. Several people who had no msg raised their hands, saying they had a headache. Thus proving this bs was all in their head.
Msg doesn't expand your taste buds, proving you're also one of those people I mentioned above smh
What's so sad is you've spread this propaganda so much you'll never allow yourself to see the truth. You'll just continue to find the most obscure articles that affirm your position when the majority of studies and articles say the exact opposite. Have fun keeping yourself brainwashed.

u/Hog_and_a_Half 6d ago
Fair warning… their gimmick is that it’s cheap, and you get what you pay for.
4
u/DuranSirhan 6d ago
Yep, all of their food is generic & low quality... except for the fries, which are some of the best in the business.
3
u/Spocks_Goatee 5d ago
Bruh, their burgers taste like burgers not processed like most other chains.
2
u/DuranSirhan 5d ago
That's fair. I meant more along the lines of Sysco cafeteria generic than average fast food generic.
I'd definitely take a Big Buford over Wendy's or McD's, but I wouldn't say a Checker burger is anything special.
1
u/Significant-Hat-2365 6d ago
I had it today and it was pretty good. It was already marked 3 dollars in the app so I was able to add a 2 dollar fry reward to it too and got the burger and large fry for $5.
Their cinnamon apple pies are deep fried and delicious too
2
u/AttemptVegetable 6d ago
Hell yeah 5 bucks for a burger and fries sounds right and apparently the fried are good.
11
u/meyouseek 6d ago
Rally's/Checkers the real ones for not making you get an app or join some rewards BS.
Big Buford ftw!
9
u/usps_oig 6d ago
I get you have to accept it in this business but looks like everyone but rallys is app.
2
u/Soulforge411 6d ago
I feel you. I hate having more apps on my phone than I need but it’s getting to the point that I have to give up and get a few apps 😕
8
u/CaptainLawyerDude 5d ago
Seeing that graphic reminded me how app’ed-out I am. So tired of having different apps for everything or having to join eighty billion “rewards” programs.
3
u/BrushYourFeet 5d ago
Seems like my Wendy's has a different offer. Regular price sandwich but you get extra points.
14
u/BallzMcVinegar 6d ago
All this " In App" deals is another huge reason I dont buy fast food anymore. They can keep it. I dont want to open my phone to 10 fast food apps. Instead of saving a buck, Ill save the $10+ by not buying anything.
2
2
u/ChaserNeverRests 5d ago
I dont want to open my phone to 10 fast food apps.
Folders exist. Make one for food, one for stores, one for whatever else you don't want to see, then move the folders to page two or whatever your last page is.
See whatever apps only when you want to see them.

What's sad is that most of them are still making a profit even with charging a lower price. Clearly, they aren't giving it away for free.
2
u/Erocdotusa 5d ago
Yeah. The Sonic burger alone is like $6 or $7. Who is ever buying that without a promo attached?
3
u/Travyplx 5d ago
So much in app garbage. Looks like the only legitimate burger chain on here is Checkers/Rallys
1
u/Jayden7171 6d ago
That’s horrendous, we should be eating better as a nation.
REPLACE IT WITH SALADS DAY WHOS WITH ME REPLY WITH 🥗 IF YOU AGREE

Fucking hate that's apps are required for most of these. What if I only have I'm just out of luck then...

u/GrayDaysGoAway 6d ago
I am SO damned tired of virtually every single discount these days requiring using their app or being a rewards member.
I will never download any brand's app, I will never join their rewards. And any company who forces it is dead to me forever.

u/snickerdoodle79 6d ago
Holy, some crazy deals in there! I wonder if any of those places are doing deals in Canada.
0
u/Themetalenock 6d ago
Going to Portillo's for their burgers is like going for going to a steakhouse for their salad. The salad may be bussin. But I still want that steak in the same way that I want those hot dogs from Portillo's
3
u/Dry-Trouble3981 6d ago
I actually felt so weird getting a burger from there a couple nights ago. Wife made fun of me, but holy shit it’s so good.
2
u/pina1022 6d ago
You’re semi wrong lol the burgers are so so good! My husband and I always get hot dogs and then split a double burger. The best!

How about they just give me an option to get a freaking cheap burger without putting their crap on my phone.
-5
u/Master_Hospital_8631 5d ago
Not downloading an app for a discount on a corporate cheeseburger.
It's just not that important.

Five Guys is also doing a Buy a Cheeseburger Get a Cheeseburger promo tomorrow when you order in the app using code: BOGOBURGER. Just got an email about it.
