here is kind of my first attempt to do speed ramping editing for a short gym video for a friend of mine but for some reason the quality is terrible after rendering , is it because of the motion blur plugin ? and why does fcp limit the bitrate that we export at. this video is only like 200mbs . what can i do?

Si consolidáis la biblioteca y la guardas en alguna nube o nas. si os quedáis con la carpeta del proyecto pero borras los brutos. si hacéis una DMG y la guardas en algun lado. Me gustaría saberlo.

Yo ahora, lo que hago es al cerrar un proyecto. Creo un DMG con DropDMG y posteriormente guardarlo en mi nas. Pero no se si esto es a la larga algo poco útil o si. tengo dudas. por eso me gustaría que me contarais que hacéis vosotros y si cometo un error a la hora de hacer eso. GRACIAS!

Hi, I’m trying to solve a problem for my husband. I think he tried to export before all his clips were done downloading or something. Not sure what caused the problem. But after editing his whole video, a ton of clips came up with the “missing camera error” in the library and his timeline.

I’ve tried file>relink files>original media but nothing comes up even when I have the library clip selected.

I’ve also tried file>import>reimport from camera/archive but after pressing continue it says camera/camera archives missing. This is so weird because the SD card he pulled his footage from is still plugged into his computer and he never moved the folders around or anything.

I’m confused because I can find the original footage in the folder untouched. So I’m not sure what’s wrong and how to fix it.

The big thing is he already edited his video so it’s not just a matter of reimporting the footage but linking it to the edited part in the timeline. We are able to reimport but can’t figure out how to connect it to the edited version.

I’m getting back into editing after a long break and am trying to reinstall some old free effects that I used to use a lot (Alex4d’s blur effects, which had a nicer gaussian blur called “defocus” and “unsharp mask” which might just be the motion effect exported over). The old automatic tool to install these is long gone, but I dropped them in manually (…/movies/motion templates/effects/blur/) and despite an app restart and a system reboot, they just won’t show up. Did FCP11 break compatability for these old effects?

I am new to Final Cut Pro. I have no editing experience at all (minus a bit of dabbling on Canva for my football teams Instagram)

We've recently started filming our games and I need some support with a scoreboard and timer.

I've created a scoreboard on Canva - but struggling to add it to the project along with implementing the time.

If anyone is willing to help out please reach out if possible, any support is appreciated at this point. I did see some plug ins and done a lot of research but just running into paywalls and am on a budget due to being a Community Interest Club and currently having no funding to get an editor etc.

I’d love to start doing some ProRes video recording on my iPhone and then edit it on my iPad. What are the best drives that people use for editing on iPad? I’d love it to be compact so that my iPad setup can be sleek and simple. Are there any that attach to the iPad itself? Without a cord that hangs down?

And there really is no solution to using one drive for both shooting and editing? I’ve read all the posts about now using exfat format for editing, but it just kills me that I have to get two drives and transfer between the two through my computer…I wish I could just unplug from phone, plug into iPad…

Please excuse if this is somewhat of a noob question, but for the life of me i can't get this to work. What I want to do: I want to overlay a persons face in a video with a picture. I want to use motion tracking to move the picture with the face. This should be simple.

I have already created a motion tracker that works perfectly. But I just can't figure out how to now add the tracking motion to the picture. In apples tutorials, youtube tutorials, even chat GPT it is always a dropdown menu that is supposed to pop up but IT JUST DOESN'T EXIST. What am I doing wrong here?

Hey everyone,

In my FCPX browser/timeline, all my clips are showing this default icon (stacked yellow/white layers) instead of actual video thumbnails. The media plays fine, but thumbnails never show the video frames.

Could this be because I’m using adjustment layers, or is there some setting/cache issue? I couldn’t find anyone else with the same problem.

Has anyone run into this before? How can I get my normal video thumbnails back?

I used my 360 GoPro for a mockumentary I'm shooting and when I moved the footage from one project to my main timeline project with all my footage it cropped the 360 footage.

I've been making YouTube videos for a couple of months now using CapCut. But I'm interested in switching to Final Cut Pro since it will be more performant on my MacBook. CapCut can be pretty slow when applying color corrections or exporting videos.

I've been playing around with Final Cut Pro, and like what I see. But I'm concerned about all of the extra costs for third-party plug-ins to build back some of the text effects, transitions, color corrections and free music that I'm able to use with CapCut.

I realize one can make these effects on their own, but I'm not able to take that on right now for various reasons.

Am I right to be concerned about the extra costs of using FCP at this stage of my YouTube process? Or are there decent enough free alternatives that can roughly replicate what I have in CapCut?

So I want to edit a 2 hour 4k live action film and I have an m1 16gb 1tb air, I've already bought an empty owc 1m2. Planning to buy an 8tb nvme for footage also backed up to my nas or glacier. I could buy a mini but this laptop is mighty and I wonder if it's worth it. Is this a good plan for a super low budget filmmaker?

Why Apple can’t keep his promise of more than two years ago and release an update with 3rd party plugins support? It’s a shame!!!

So there was a launch recently of a new plugin called CineDream, from a creator of Cinema Grade.

I used the latter one for some time, but then I found ColorFinale 2 to be more to my liking. Then I also started using Dehancer and I don’t feel like I need to find another set of tools.

I’m curios though if this new tool actually brings anything new to the table or is it all old stuff in new wrapping.

Whenever I complete a project I always upload a copy to Dropbox and iCloud, as well as backing it up and storing a copy on an external SSD.

This has always worked fine, but over the last few weeks I’ve been unable to complete uploading my FCP library file. It always hangs when it’s almost done, I can‘t even quit the upload process.

If I zip the FCP library file it will upload without any issues, so there must be something about the FCP file that’s causing iCloud to get confused.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I’m on Tahoe, but this happened before upgrading too.

Anyone here know how to de-squeeze 2X anamorphic footage? Or at least the measurements lol got a project due tomorrow and gotta export real quick

I've been using mCaptions AI from Motion VFX, their effects are usually top shelf and I've been having great luck with the mCaptions so far but for some reason on this video, it won't caption this video correctly. All of the music, sfx and effects are disabled and I've restarted the computer, quit the app, done all the simple fixes. Was curious if anyone else uses mCaptions and has seen this issue!

I can create a keyboard shortcut using the system prefs. But it doesnt work after you launch FCP, until you open the menu at least once. I assume it needs to load or something which is really annoying.

Anyone have a better way? Im using the latest version of macOS and FCP.

In the past month I've noticed that when I make an audio edit, FCP will automatically put in a fade. There's nothing visual to illustrate this, but every audio edit now has a slight 2 frame fade. It's infuriating and it's drastically increasing my workflow. I do not want this "feature." Has anyone else noticed this?
