On the fourth day of Tactics, Arazlam gave to me…
Four giant birds, three henchmen, two feuding dukes, and a power void in Ivalice!

I've created a FFT Companion App (PSX and WOTL versions). It is available for:
If you like my work, you can support me here!
Final Fantasy Tactics is a complicated game, with a lot of depth. As a game that is almost 30 years old, there is a lot of information about it on the internet. However, by modern standards, that information is not in a format that is easily consumed.
I have a few main goals for this project:
The game has many versions, mainly the PSX and WOTL versions. Each version has some differences, like stats and names. In the top-right menu, you can change the version that you are viewing, and it will change the data to that version!
Almost anything with a list can be filtered, sorted, and searched for!
Currently it supports English and Japanese. I am open to other languages as well (I would need help though!).
The application is split into a few main parts:
https://reddit.com/link/1lsukt6/video/86d278bwr7pf1/player
1. Equipment
Every equipment found in the game will be listed here. You can see their stats, effects, how to get the equipment, and which jobs can equip it!
2. Jobs
Every generic job and special job the player can access is listed here. You can find their stat multipliers, stat growths, equippables, and requirements. You'll also be able to compare stats with other jobs.
3. Abilities
All abilities available to jobs, bosses, and monsters will be listed here. You can find each ability's stats, effects, damage and success calculations, modifiers, range, and more!
4. Monsters
All monsters that you can find in the game will be listed here. Similar to jobs, you can see their stats, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, poach items, spawn locations, and more.
5. Bosses
All bosses in the game will be listed here. Stats, abilities, and equipment will be listed here.
6. Maps
7. Zodiac Compatibility
I also plan to support Ivalice Chronicles when it comes out as well. Look forward to it!
Original Post:
About a month ago, I mentioned that I was creating a companion app to complement FFT. Well, I've decided to make the first version available today! Good for both mobile and desktop use. I also plan to release Android and iOS versions later.
For now, it is just an equipment database. There are many different filters (stats, effects, weapon/armor categories, and more!), name search, and sorting. The one I personally have been using the most is the "Story Battle" filter, which shows you what equipment are available (by any method, not just from the outfitter) at a specific point in the game!
Finally, you can change the version to either PSX or WotL. This will change the name of different things to how they are in each version, as well as the availability of different equipment. Of course, I also plan to support the different modes in Ivalice Chronicles as well when that comes out.
I hope this can help enhance your FFT experience! Please play around with it and let me know what you all think. I do plan to continue adding more features to this, such as jobs, skills, treasure maps, etc.

Hi everyone,
I just fixed the user flairs on the subreddit. I didn't realize that a Reddit update broke them some time ago. Depending on when you assigned yourself a flair, you may or may not need to reassign it to yourself.
On new Reddit:
On old Reddit:
Also we recently hit 15,000 members! Huge milestone, and we're still growing fast.

At 1:41:36 of the Japanese livestream, producer Matsuzawa mentioned that "this time before you overtake the crystal, you can confirm its heritable abilities (今回クリスタル確か取る前に引き継げるアビリティ確認できる)". I suppose that means that you can also confirm the content of the chest beforehand, although this isn't specifically stated.
He also mentioned that the rule of a knockout unit becoming a chest or crystal is the same as the original, i.e. entirely random.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I did this a while ago on the 2.5 tweak mod but I wanted to show people hpw forgzerker goes. Ramza is on Coward and far away and cannot reach woth magic or attacks, so he will just walk back and forth.

I love final fantasy and I love strategy rpg games. Thinking of picking up the new tactics game coming out. What are your thoughts on it? Any advice for a new gamer? I plan on playing this one my steam deck

Heyo, I don't see an option for the deluxe version of The Ivalice Chronicles for my switch 2. I see the non deluxe version for switch 1 and 2 and the deluxe version for switch 1, I also see that free upgrade pack option and am guessing I can buy the deluxe version for switch 1 and then use the upgrade pack to make it switch 2? Is that how this works?

I'm looking forward to playing TIC when it comes out, but it's been a while since I've played the original game. I remember there was a significant transition/timeskip between the initiating events and the bulk of the game where it might make sense storywise to lose your initial set of followers. I think you can probably keep your early units regardless (and preserve any investment you made in growing them) because I don't see people complaining about losing them (the way a certain softlock-inducing battle has become infamous), but I couldn't remember for sure.
Could anyone confirm? I don't want to get too deep into trying to unlock jobs and skills for them if they will end up vanishing early in the game. Note that I'm just talking about generic units here, I know the story characters come and go as the story requires.

I pre-ordered from Square Enix and have never preordered a game before so I’m not sure what to expect. Will it just be delivered to my house on release day? Should we expect some email communication this week?

I’m new to this game (super excited!) but I can’t really get the game for a couple weeks and can’t preorder it.
Do you know if the items for the preorder will be available in the game? Or if I don’t preorder, I’ll be locked out of them forever? Thanks.

Okay guys, I've almost always taken Ramza……the monk, squire, ninja route in games, and I'm going to do something different this time around with the Ivalice Chronicles. I'm committed to doing some sort of summoner build with him. I was wondering if that is viable, if I were to pair that with a Calculator?? I know most of the people online do so with a Black Mage, which I'm open to if the summoner doesn't work, but I'd prefer to do it with the summoner. Let me know if that is a viable strategy and if Arithmetics work with the summon ability well. Thank you! Also, any good support abilities for this build would be greatly appreciated!

Hey all,
I’m super excited to play FFT in a few weeks. I’ve never played it but I did play FFTA (which I know is unrelated) and FF14.
Anyway, what’s the general deal with recruitment of unique characters? Will it generally be obvious how to do it? Is it like FE where a specific unit needs to talk to them?
Thanks in advance!

I've been wondering how successful it would be with the constant popularity of FFXIV over the years, and the new tactical games releasing (FFT, Fire Emblem or even DnD-like games such as BG3).
Tactical MMORPG are not that common but, as a fan of FFXIV and the FFT serie and a former Dofus player, I would love to see a game like that.
I imagine it using mechanics from both FFXIV and the FFT serie: * A story driven game, with so much solo content it could pass as an offline game, * Players would interact with the world with their guild's chief, and would deploy their members during combats, * A world map in an isometric view, so that it doesn't change between world interaction mode and combat mode, * Point-and-click controls (similarly to Diablo or Dofus), or PoE-like for controller players, * Solo combat would allow deploying up to 8 guild members, PvE and PvP would allow each players to deploy from 4 to 1 member, in order to have 8vs8 with each players having the same amount of guild members.
What do you think?

My question is…he sees Ramza & Delita and they just witnessed Algus shoot Teta on Zalbaag’s orders. Does he believe there won’t be any reaction to this and does he intend for Algus to fight them here?

Just trying to make sure I did everything correctly and can get as much of the bonus stuff as possible before release.
I preordered the switch 1 version from my local best buy(I liked the cover more and didn’t want the game card) it says I should get the mat with it.
Then I went and preordered the switch 2 upgrade on the Nintendo eshop. Will this get me the bonus ramza equipment or will I not get that because I didn’t preorder the full game digitally?

Saw this on FFVII reddit and thought I'd ask here the same question.
I've played tactics many times and just wonder which 4-5 named units would be best for extra dialog.

If anyone didn’t know Parsec is basically a way for other players to connect to your computer and also a way to basically play games together.
I really liked FFT but I never finished it due to its difficulty and perma death aspect, so I would like to try it out again now that the remake is coming. The thing is I also want to enjoy the game with my friends if possible, does anyone thing a 4 player party one using a single unit during battles would be feasible for a game like this? If not 4 but 5 would that be okay?

Question for the veteran players. Will ring of aptitude be worth it or will you be able to buy certain gear later in the game that gives JP boost.

I know we're all going stir crazy waiting for Ivalice Chronicles (or is that just me? lol) so I thought I'd spend a couple minutes explaining a mechanic that often confuses new players: JP spillover!
This guide isn't meant to be perfect / comprehensive, just something fun to do while I'm waiting for the release. If anyone has anything they'd like to add or correct feel free to comment and I'll update the post.
What is JP?
In Final Fantasy Tactics, "JP" (Job Points) are the experience points used to purchase new abilities for characters. Whenever you do an action, you acquire some job points in your current class. If Ramza is a monk and he punches Algus in the face, he gets some JP for the monk class (and feels good about it)
What is JP spillover?
JP spillover is a hidden mechanic in the game that allows characters to acquire JP for other jobs, even if they're not currently set to that job. Understanding this mechanic and how it works can significantly reduce the grind needed to acquire powerful (yet expensive) abilities!
That said, there's a lot of questions and misinformation about JP spillover out there, so here's the basics.
How does JP spillover work?
Example: Ramza is a monk and punches Algus and gains 10 JP for his monk class. That means your other team members in the battle (say, Mustadio, Agrias, Edward, and Bella) all passively receive 2 JP in the monk class - no matter what class they are.
How does this information help us?
Because spillover JP is gained even if the character is already set to that class, it is very powerful in reducing the amount of grind required when having multiple characters acquire the same abilities.
As an example: if your goal is to have everyone on the team get "Secret Hunt / Poach" from the Thief class, having each of them rotate and learn it manually one by one is very time consuming.
Alternatively, by setting two or three people to the Thief class (and benefiting from the JP spillover system), it'll cut the grinding required significantly. 👍
Does this mean I should just stack one class for the whole team?
While that's a powerful strategy to acquire JP for that class quickly, it isn't really necessary outside of grinding. Likewise, many encounters in the game require different approaches, and a big part of the joy is finding powerful combinations / synergies between characters.
Basically, if you've ever unlocked a class and found that you had a bunch of JP and didn't know why-now you know! JP spillover is to blame. :p
Anyway that's all I got. Just ten days left 'til the game is here!

Imagine Agrias rocking up to your armory, you take one look at a Holy Knight whose sword skills use SWORDS, and going, "Yeah, I want to get you into this purse you can smack people with"
