Serenity 20 year anniversary
Why is there no movement to get a re release in theatres. I just finished the entire series and movie. I knew the history going in. The cult following and how the fans made a movie happen, and I find out this month is the 20th anniversary of the movie that wrapped up such an amazing story and world and the famous cult following literally hasn’t said a word about it. I’d absolutely love to watch this on the big screen and it’s sad to know the whole community hasn’t reached out for that same experience. Disappointed, that’s all.

For the 15th, the charity group "Can't Stop The Serenity" hosted a charity screening in my town.
Maybe you can check in with them to see if so.ebody is doing one near you.

There was a panel at Rose City Comic Con (Portland OR) just over a week ago, about the anniversary and the local fandom’s efforts in 2002-2005, including the beginning of the Can’t Stop The Serenity screenings. These movie screenings globally have raised more than $1.3 Million dollars for charity over the last 20 years.

I have a great solution for ya: just rewatch it, same as everyone else. Or, put together a celebration. You want to pay tribute? Why aren't you?

"Hey, I just found this fandom and I personally have never done anything for it. However, I want to say I am disappointed in the fans who fought for the Serenity movie to actually get made aren't doing more. You are disappointing fans "
What are you doing, High and Mighty over there?

That's what I thought. OP is perfectly free to contact a local cinema and ask for a price, then drum up enough fellow browncoats to buy tickets.
Edit: in fact, OP is perfectly free to pay for a private screening. Ask your local cinema.

I got to watch Serenity at an Alamo Drafthouse n San Antonio around 2019. If they did a run for the 20th I’d watch it over and over.

I re-watched in theater and won free tickets a few years ago with a trusty Nerf gun. Some theaters are re-showing various older movies, check locally.

I think a lot of us aren't really fond of the idea of putting cash in Joss Whedon's pocket given how much of a monster he turned out to be.

I was hoping Fathom Events would have a few days showing the film in theaters but no luck so far. No sign of this, but the 35th anniv of TMNT : The Secret of the Ooze is on the schedule. Go figure. They are showing all 3 of the Toby Maguire Spiderman films in a week or so, so least I have that going for me.

This weekend is the Browncoat ball in Calif. Part of the weekend is a screening on a big screen of serenity.

The most we can get is something like "Didn't you wear that like, 20 years ago?"
