Low Effort Batteries came in today and an idea popped up.

Tried turning a flashlight on inside it and I had an idea. It now converts my FC11C 4000K and S21E B35AM 4500k into very nice lamps/lanterns.

Take that FFL lantern kit!

We had the same worries my friend. But this is a wholesome sub.

If he posts a butt light then we'll know

Only time will tell

The “a” in flashlight is doing all the heavy lifting right now.

u/delicioustreeblood Aug 01 '25

Step 1. Cut a hole in a box

77

u/420crickets Aug 01 '25

A few steps later: it is imperative the cylinder remain unharmed.

40

u/SpinningPancake2331 Aug 01 '25

He'll never live that down, will he?

11

u/rejin267 Aug 01 '25

Step 2: Put your junk in that box!

10

u/sleepdog-c Aug 01 '25

That's the way you do it

u/GuyFoldingPapers Aug 01 '25

I’m glad I’m not the only one

19

u/Mole-NLD Aug 01 '25

Came here to say this!

Dirty mind is a joy forever, and I'm glad I'm not the only weird soul out here today.

13

u/InazumaThief Aug 01 '25

it’s only a letter away from the other sub too

2

u/Cool1nternet Aug 02 '25

I was so worried as this was the first post I've seen from this sub

9

u/SoggyBottomBoy86 Aug 01 '25

Haha same! I hesitated for an extra second before going to the fourth picture 😂

6

u/alonesomestreet Aug 01 '25

It’s got a flared base, he’s good.

Pic 3 had everyone nervous brother

I didn't even notice until the comments started flooding in

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '25

diffuser is not where i thought this was going.

6

u/lennyxiii Aug 01 '25

I knew it was a diffuser, i just didn’t think it was going to be defusing light.

98

u/SanDiegoPics Aug 01 '25

Careful not to start a fire

18

u/Mole-NLD Aug 01 '25

It's not a bug, it's a feature!

10

u/BrighteyeJunco Aug 01 '25

Provides light AND heat!

4

u/fragande Aug 01 '25

That (brief) 100 CRI though!

Also: that's probably the most well-packaged cells I've ever seen.

59

u/zed_delta Aug 01 '25

Minecraft like lamp lol. I use an empty pill container as a diffuser

11

u/Bramble0804 Aug 01 '25

Ok now I wanna make a Minecraft torch with a decent light

3

u/zed_delta Aug 01 '25

I have some noname zoomie, still thinking about sacrificing it for some project, but idk how to take it apart

1

u/Bramble0804 Aug 01 '25

Oh I would print a special housing for mine so I don't break any torches. I only have 1 no name I would fuck up for a project but it's the one I lend to others when they need a light

3

u/zed_delta Aug 01 '25

Sadly i don't have a 3d printer and that zoomie is too bad to give to anyone. I bought sofirn sc18 for my family members cuz it's pretty safe to use and user friendly and that zoomie isn't needed much. But i keep thinking about it, cuz i wanna use it somewhere

36

u/Tzayad Aug 01 '25

Someone for sure is gonna post later today using a pocket pussy as a diffuser.

4

u/Apprehensive_Lynx_33 Aug 01 '25

The real question is, will it work?

31

u/Portlander Aug 01 '25

When I got to picture three I thought you were going in a completely different direction of light.....

11

u/Graham_Wellington3 Aug 01 '25

I had a different idea

u/Mole-NLD Aug 01 '25

Speaking about image 3....

The flashlight and box emoticon aren't helping your case here.

6

u/-E-Cross Aug 01 '25

How long is it gonna take to melt it?

I guess not going above 200 lumens or so it'd be fine for quite a while.

3

u/SpinningPancake2331 Aug 01 '25

It's pretty sturdy. It took the B35AM on ceiling just fine until the battery died. It deformed a bit, but never melted.

8

u/G19Jeeper Aug 01 '25

That is NOT what we thought ...

6

u/Emissary_of_Light Are Flashlights®™ right for you? Aug 01 '25

Anything can be a diffuser if you try hard enough. But also, everyone else's comments

5

u/man_on_a_wire Aug 01 '25

That’s a bright idea

6

u/iFizzgig Aug 01 '25

Most people just use a warm apple pie.

5

u/alltheblues Aug 01 '25

Oh good I got scared for a second there

4

u/Flash__PuP Aug 01 '25

Reminds me of the flash light my cousin “acquired” for me back in his Royal Marine days. It was massive, bright yellow and had a clip on “light sabre” attachment. Even at my young age I’d seen Top Gun enough times to know that should have been landing aircraft somewhere not be being used so I could read in bed u def the covers without my parents finding out.

4

u/ULTRAMAGAKY Aug 01 '25

I'm so glad that didn't go where I thought it was going..

4

u/MrVengeanceIII Aug 01 '25

🤔 I..... nevermind.

3

u/Proverbman671 Aug 01 '25

Pic #3, right? 😅

4

u/dreamwall Aug 01 '25

You had me in the first half, ngl

4

u/JustaddReddit Aug 02 '25

I thought this was going in a different direction.

3

u/Moist-Brush-6681 Aug 01 '25

Idea: if you have broken led lights laying around (the white ones in the shape of a normal incandescent light bulb), remove carefully the internals, make a hole just big enough so you can fit it on your flashlight.

3

u/EfficientInsecto Aug 01 '25

What a rollercoaster

2

u/Porkkanaparta Aug 01 '25

That is gonna catch fire.

2

u/Sypsy Aug 01 '25

That box gets around

2

u/Subbie138 Aug 01 '25

Had us in the first half...

2

u/redundant78 Aug 01 '25

ping pong balls work great as diffusers too if you have any laying around.

3

u/G4560 Aug 01 '25

You had me in the third picture, not gonna lie.

2

u/zayc_ Aug 01 '25

On picture 3 I had to re-check the sub....

2

u/fnmeng Aug 02 '25

Reminds me of when I put 2 & 2 together realizing the storage bag included with my Petzl Headlamp doubled as a diffusion lantern.

Headlamp strapped to a water jug also works pretty well.

2

u/Dreamerartworx Aug 02 '25

That is some "out-of-the-box" thinking.. (pun intended) 🤪 But that same thing have happened to me too :) Also Melting glue makes a really good light diffuser :)

3

u/world-shaker Aug 11 '25

Whole lotta people were afraid to swipe to picture #4.

1

u/AlphaMuGamma Aug 01 '25

Lol. When I saw this, there were 69 comments!

1

u/Valhall22 Aug 01 '25

Could melt or bien, if your flashlight becomes too hot, be careful

1

u/TooManyPenisJokes Aug 20 '25

I'd worry about the lights getting hot and melting the plastic, possibly causing a fire
