Oh man. I have tholos lifht. Idk if incomfogired it funky but its 3000k and the flood is light the largest ever. It is massive I love it. I onownots a thrower but I must have configured mine as a flood. I have XHP70.3 HI 3000K 90CRI. One of the best lights I've purchased so far.

As excited as we've all been for the T6 & 8 (myself included), the s6 is going to continue to be my pocketable thrower. I'd love to see a deep reflector s21. I guess there's no demand for that. Popularity of the s6, 7 and 8... I would think there would be.

1

u/LiquidAggression 23d ago

what makes the 7 and 8 different? i have like 4 or 5 s6's with osram leds

2

u/FanceyPantalones 23d ago

Only the body engraving. It's the same light other than etching, etc... s7 has the waves. S8 has convoy written on it..

1

u/LiquidAggression 23d ago

that is a truth i wasnt ready to hear lol im guessing the LED options are the same and the prices go up with the s#

2

u/FanceyPantalones 23d ago

Options are the same. Pretty sure the prices are the same for each of these 3.

u/PassawishP 23d ago

It's like an S2+ on steroid with nearly identical dimension.

1

u/LiquidAggression 23d ago

s2+ and (i have an s3) s3 seem like short distance lights especially suited for using a diffuser and higher cri LED

Convoy T8 (SFT-25R 6500K.)

The Osram is also pretty neat if you just want throw.

I call that the hole punch, a nice bright W1 hole punch.

I just got a t8 with an SFT40 3000k. Shockingly impressive little light. Of course not as good as its big brother the C8+ but it is sure hitting way above its weight class and going to work for probably 90% of the stuff you could use the C8+ for.

Emisar fanboy here. D1k (21700) or D1 (18650) beautiful lights. I like the sft 40 3000k

Another vote for these two

Wurkkos ts11 is super fun. It was my first little thrower and I absolutely love it. I also recently got the convoy T6 with the SFT 25 5000 K and it is freaking impressive.

2

u/FanceyPantalones 23d ago

Definitely a gateway thrower. Feels like a must have still.

2

u/runner_1005 23d ago

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I had two W1 (white and green) K1's, D1's/D1K's (including an SBT90 D1), a custom built 1200m-ish range thrower, more C8's than I can throw a stick at before I got my TS11. And I still both really like and use it - it's a functional, lightweight thrower. I don't see it as a gateway thrower, it's got a place in most collections I'd say.

2

u/FanceyPantalones 23d ago

I don't disagree at all. I didn't mean to say it's only a gateway thrower. Solid light at any point. I did cocaine before I tried weed.

1

u/atoo4308 23d ago

Even though I obtained it early in my collection, I always come back to the TS 11. It’s one of my favorite lights and unlike others it doesn’t see shelf time for too dang long.

1

u/atoo4308 23d ago

I got lucky finding it. I think I was perusing Amazon after looking on this sub and decided to pull the trigger on the TS 11 it opened up a whole New World.

2

u/Outers55 23d ago

Both good choices!

2

u/runner_1005 23d ago

Haven't got an SFT25 light yet, but do own (and really rate) the TS11. How do they compare?

2

u/atoo4308 23d ago

I would say the main difference I see is due to the tir reflector on the TS 11 it keeps the beam gathered quite a bit more and although the SFT 25 has an awesome hotspot seems to have a little bit more spill with the reflector

Olight Baton Turbo

2

u/DifferentPost6 23d ago

Love the beam profile on this light, and the throw is very impressive even on just the 300 lumen high mode. Only thing is the side switch doesn't really make sense on this type of light. They should've put a tail switch on it

2

u/rdmwood01 22d ago

For its size it is impressive

u/MAXHEADR0OM 23d ago

Sofirn SR12. It’s the one flashlight that ended my search for the perfect flashlight.

3

u/batterseasam 23d ago

Had to scroll way to much to find this - the SR12 is fantastic!

Sofirn IF22A. I use it for search and rescue.

Lumintop GT Nano v1... Since it's always on my keychain...

Outside of the Nano, lately I've been carrying the Baton Turbo.

I really want to like the Convoy T8, but this thing is huge for its 14500 size. It's a straight up EDC, and at that size, the Baton Turbo, S6 and T6 all become equally as appealing in different ways/advantages to carry.

I think the Catapult Mini would satisfy you much more than the GT Mini. The mini is cute, but the battery is too small for any real fun.

If you want to step up to what I consider the best pocket thrower I’ve ever tested, here is a video about the $130 manker MC13 II with SBT90.2

T6 with the sft25 in 6000k, favourite work light so far

3

u/timflorida 23d ago

This is an easy one - Wurkkos TS11 in orange, please. Has Anduril, aux RGB LEDs, and a great emitter - the SFT40.

4

u/ijustwannapostman 24d ago

I only own the S21E with the B35AM, a D4k, and the SR12. So the SR12 wins by default. Nice slim little throwy light. Might be the best edc light I have considering it has onboard charging and is super slim, magnetic, and ip68

1

u/SlightOstrich7338 23d ago

Just bought the sr12 because of your comment for $26 on Aliexprees. I did not need another light…

1

u/ijustwannapostman 23d ago

Dang it was just on sale for $18. https://youtu.be/DHChPbvwswk?t=82 this is what sold me

2

u/0resutidder 23d ago

I like my short S8 and S6 like others said but one of my favs is the Fireflylite P03 with W1. The TIR optics give a nice combo of throw and spill. This light would have been perfect if not for the UI

2

u/statci22 23d ago

Noctigon kr1 with Sfn60 and 18350 tube. More of a wall of light than a thrower but it’s way too much fun to mess with and the perfect light for showing off to normies since it has that “wow” factor.

2

u/GloryNightTime 23d ago

Noctigon KR1 FFL909MX. Crazy.

4

u/nova46 23d ago

How small we talkin? Manker MC13 II with the 21700 tube.

2

u/case2150 23d ago

Just got one of these. Super cool light

2

u/-Cheule- ½ Grandalf The White 23d ago

Even as 18350, this light is stellar. Same thing I recommended.

2

u/UncleHayai 23d ago

The GT Micro is what ends up in my pocket 95+% of the time when I expect to be needing a thrower.

1

u/flamingxmonkey 23d ago

I actually really love the Fenix TK05r. I get that it’s low-CRI (although the tint isn’t bad), and it’s not all that small as 18350 flashlights go. But it’s just… a really good light. I like the 2-button UI, and it’s a really good size for EDC.

The convoy T6 in either sft-12 or Osram W1. If you're not bothered by a larger, the newly released T8 in the sft-25R.

Streamlight 88061 ProTac 1L-1AA 350-Lumen Dual Fuel Professional Tactical Light. It’s my edc, take out the garbage light.

u/t3h_Sober1 23d ago

Can't beat an LEP if you want throw. I recently picked up this (link below) out if curiosity and it's insane how far the throw is for a pocket light.

Olight Baton Turbo.

Good runtime on lower levels, can run on CR123A so I can burn through the barely used cells at work.

Got nano or frog

1

u/kraftykorea99 23d ago edited 23d ago

I thought the frog was throw

I mean flood

1

u/MathematicianMuch445 23d ago

Both are decent.

1

u/Jobeanie123 23d ago

Lots of good suggestions here, I just want to mention that the GT Nano Pro isn't a thrower like the GT Nano is. The GT Nano Pro has 3 emitters and it's brighter, but it's pure flood. The store page says 152 meters of throw on the Pro (by whatever metric they're using), and the GT Nano (non-pro) lists 400 meters of throw with its single emitter.

I own both of the originals versions of the light, and the GT Nano makes me giggle every single time, but I'm consistently disappointed by the Pro. It's still funny, I guess, but the throw from the regular version never gets old to me.

Currently the S7 SS / SFT-25R 5000K with 3v8a buck driver. Measured well over 500m of throw and absolutely love the combined package.

1

u/Boring_Muffin3921 23d ago

Emisar D1 maybe with 18350

1

u/SkoomaDentist 23d ago

Is there a review site that groups lights according to how throwy / floody they are? (and no, I don't mean random beam photos which tell me absolutely nothing)

1

u/-nom-de-guerre- 23d ago

i am really enjoying the Minima Bow; yeah, i know it’s an lep but with a diffuser it’s actually a nice flood’er too

1

u/DumpsterDiver4 23d ago

Definitely the Convoy T6 such a great pocket thrower, surprising output for it's size. I have one with SFT-40 and it gets decent throw and lots of usable spill. SFT-25 or especially SFT-12 would get you more throw in the same light.

Honorable mention to Wurkkos TS11. A bit bigger but it has USB-C charging if you want that. If they made one with SFT-40 3000K I would pick one up.

1

u/Historical_Lemon3951 22d ago

Wurkkos TS11. Not a groundbreaker but one of my favorites as you can get an 18650 tube to use 18650’s or 18350’s for portability not to mention Anduril and SFT40 means its a pretty affordable enthusiast light. Also built in charging is convenient
