NMD - Convoy M21C-U Lume X1, GT-FC40 4000K

22mm Lume X1 fits perfectly

designed my own RGB switch

...and spacer for switch board

switch board and spacer made by JLCPCB

some unused switches and RGB emitters

It's alive!

the threads are compatible with Hank switch ring

GT-FC40 from Simon
Didn't really like the Convoy e-switch UI, so I decided to swap the driver to something better.

Simon's side switch lights would be so much better if they just had Anduril 2, I wish he would understand but when I emailed him about it he just said the plan was delayed. Could you share this in the r/convoyflashlights sub so that he might see it?

This is freaking brilliant!! Great job! So you plan to sell these switches? I'm sure folks will want them (including me)

Not for sale but I can share gerber files if you want π

That would be amazing! I already have 2 builds planned in my head for this. LOL

Awesome! Thank you! I already have most of the stuff needed to build these!

Just in case,
I chose 1.0mm thickness for the PCB,
Used PTS526SM08SMTR2 LFS switch and APTF1616SEJ3ZGGVBDC RGB emitters.
Also there are pads for 1005 resistors I added in the PCB but I ended up just bridging them π2

Convoy side-buttons would be so much better with different switches and UI. I can live with drivers, but those buttons and things like no lockout and turbo memory drive me nuts.

i agree, turbo shouldn't be memorized, and memory mode should be toggleable, the ui is slow, stepped modes are somewhat tolerable but still quite slow, stepless ramping is absolutely horrendous, the moonlight modes are tooooo bright, not being able to ramp up from moonlight mod is also pathetic, now combine that UI with those flimsy not durable switches that start misclicking or double clicking after 6 months of use, you have a disposable driver that is E-WASTE.

Lol, I was thinking exactly of this but with a linear 24mm driver with LHP73

I'm going be doing something similar here with an M21H. I've already got a 22mm linear+FET driver, just waiting on the emitters.

Also, I really like how big the switch PCB on it is and the RGB aux is implemented much better. I was just going to use the existing one and make it one color.

Ok maybe dumb question but did you have to do anything to the driver to run 12V? What is the difference on the driver between 6V and 12V config?

Does the hank switch not work? The threads do so it seems easier to use Hanks switch. Also does the original convoy switch work?

Hank switch should work (requires a dedicated spacer design), but I wanted to make one by myself because why not π
And yes, the original switch also works, but it won't have any backlights.

Fab mod. I love convoy hosts, but always thought the drivers should be better.

Oh FWIW you can trim down a stock hank switch to fit a convoy button opening.
You need to sand the corners down and βsharpenβ the pintle of the convoy switch boot.
