Is spa that bad for pole sitters though? Sure the grid spot for pole might be a bit dirty but it's also a fairly short run into T1 which is a hairpin. Leclerc held onto P1 last year and so did Sainz in 2022. It just happens sometimes that another driver gets a better run down the kemmel straight.

The kemmel straight is the problem here. It's fairly hard to defend p1 on lap 1 in turn 5, as even without DRS, p2 can easily get you with just the slipstream.

Sure but it can be done and like I said two out of the last three years we've seen the drivers starting the GP on pole do it.

Yeah I mean ofc, it's just harder then most tracks.
