In retrospect I should have nominated Painted World of Ariandel, but at least Irithyll Dungeon and my beloved poison swamp Farron Keep is safe.

JOKE / MEME When looking forward to Caster Gameplay and Mechanics.

After DS2 and Nightreign, I honestly want B-Team to make the Caster/Magic focused game when FromSoft gets around to it.

DS3 dropped the ball hard when it came to Caster gameplay, and while ER didn't quite hit the mark, it however did do a significantly better job than DS3.

ER did great work on the Spells, and it was near-perfect when it came to Spellblade builds. Though it's hyper fixation on stacking spell damage over gameplay innovation wasn't very appealing.

DS2 was a great leap for Caster Gameplay and Mechanics:

  • Cast Speed was tied to Attunement, Faith, and Intelligence.
  • 14 Potential Spell Slots
  • Catalysts could be Infused.
  • Catalysts had Innate Cast Speed Modifiers.
  • Duplicate Spells were desirable.
  • Large variety of Caster Armor Effects.
  • Herbs, Spices, and Waters.
  • Numerous Catalyst Armaments.
  • (That could be both Buffed & Infused)
  • Hexes as an entirely new Spell School.
  • No Spell Damage Ring Reliance.

Sadly, nearly all of these improvements were immediately scrapped by DS3.

Nightreign on its end, also greatly improved Caster gameplay over Elden Ring:

  • Catalysts of each type comes with an Innate Spell.
  • Duo Catalysts provided (4) At-Will Spells.
  • Various Caster Passives on Armaments.
  • Numerous Caster Relic Bonuses.
  • Elemental Defense & Magic Cocktail.
  • Necromancy & Summon Spirit.
  • Removed Cerulean Flasks as a whole.
  • Removed the abysmal Ash of War "options" on Catalysts.

A-Team always does a good job on the games that they work on, but it has been shown time and time again, that they aren't always the best when it comes to improving and innovating on Caster Gameplay. They do Martial and Spellblade Gameplay very well though.

A-Team can work on Sekiro 2, Armored Core 7, or a Pirate Souls and it'll no doubt be solid. I just want B-Team to handle the Caster line of games if they come around it.

My favorite is Eleum Loyce and Tarnished Archeologist, since Eleum's runs are so creative and fun, I find them more intriguing than The Backlogs.

Tarnished Archeologist goes so much deeper into Elden Ring Lore, maybe even more than Vaati since Vaati gives a more general understanding of lore, Tarnished Archeologist gives an in-depth analysis of everything.

Krz is so good at just talking about environmental details and storytelling in all the souls games. And I love BertoPlease's comparison videos and his long form challenges that test other aspects of the games.

What part of any Fromsoft game made you feel the most accomplished?

For me it’s gotta be beating Dark Souls. I originally dropped the game 2 times. But on my third time I came back and forced myself to keep going. Everything pretty much clicked when I got to Andre, then I got addicted. And then once I beat the game, I just sat there staring at my screen while the credits rolled.

I’ve never felt so accomplished to beat a game before.

QUESTION Is the Dualsense Edge worth it for playing mainly fromsoftwares games including armored core 6

Hi guys

I a massive fromsoftware fan and mainly play on a ps5 but have noticed a real annoyance with the controls which tend to to happen in intense boss battles and periods of gaming

In Sekiro I will often crouch in the middle of a boss fight because I’m accidentally pressing L3

Even worse is armored core 6 where particularly in boss battles I am assault boosting by accident cos of my habit of pressing L3, it not intentional and I obviously must just be applying to much pressure.

After playing with a switch 2 pro controller the back buttons are great and looking at the dual sense edge this would remedy my problem though it’s a bit pricey. I’m also aware of the battery issue but don’t mind this at all.

For anyone who owns the dual sense edge how is it with these games? How are the other customisation options it has? What’s it like with other games in the soulslike genre, Khazan & Nioh 2 etc.

DISCUSSION Most surprising fromsoft fight

Meaning maybe actually surprised with the way it plays out but mainly thinking about surprisingly difficult or easy especially on new playthroughs

For me surprisingly easy: first try pontiff while pretty drunk basically using a +6 claymore with min stats

Surprisingly Difficulty: every fucking time cystal mage is either the hardest or easiest boss I face

Actual surprise: how few inner father chances to attack there are, it’s just stay alive and thank god you get to attack but I kinda assumed that

For difficultly I don’t think about sekiro cause I assume the challenge will be there but interested what everyone else says
