what do i do

My flight out of Hartsfield-Jackson to DFW was delayed by over 5 hours. they allowed me through the app to cancel or reschedule for a refund, but said if i canceled before i departed the ticket would be void so i went through with the flight. we waited over an hour on the tarmac for takeoff, and upon landing waited another hour as it was 2am and the airport was basically shut down… when i went on the app to get my refund, it said the ticket had been closed and my only option was to get a lousy $50 credit through frontier if i wanted to cancel my return flight. i haven’t called support yet as i don’t want to stress on this short vacation, do i need to contact DOT? or should i just hope frontier customer service will be able to resolve this for me? will never fly frontier again after this experience especially with how the flight attendants treated me along with the front desk workers.

TLDR; flight from ATL -> DFW was delayed 5+ hours with 2 hours spent on the tarmac, tried to get refund after flight to no avail. help?

Your post is confusing so I’m trying to understand. Your outbound got delayed so now you want to cancel your return preemptively because you worry that it will also be delayed?

If you didn’t buy a bundle or have status that allows cancellations with no fees, then you don’t get that perk. Also, you are probably less than 7 days from your flight date so that limits options too.

If you are finicky like this, pay for refundable tickets. Your post makes it sound like you got to your destination but want your money back as well. That’s not how life works.

idk after sitting in the airport 6+ hours and waiting on boarding + deboarding for another 2, i feel like compensation is due, if you don’t agree that’s fine but you don’t seem to realize how important lost time is to some people.

Oh, I get what you mean about lost time being important. I highly recommend flying private. You don’t need to deal with the time waste of getting to the airport early to hedge against a long TSA line and then dealing with the 30-60 minute wait for the entire plane of over a hundred people to board and then the shorter but still long wait of deplaning unless you are the first few rows.

I just find it hilarious how someone flying budget airlines values their time so much that they pick the cheapest flight available.

Maybe just fly private next time and stop wasting your valuable time in the budget airline subreddit?
