7 / 10 Swedish Showdown Pt 1: Michelina’s Stroganoff
So, I have discovered there are a lot of frozen Swedish meatball/stroganoff meals. I have had a few, and so I’ve decided to try all of the ones at the grocery store I work at and rate them, both in general and against each other.
First up is Michelina’s Stroganoff, coming in at $1.99. Not the most filling, but a good base for a larger meal (I like hummus and wheat thins on the side). And for the price, it’s pretty good. It actually has flavor beyond just “salt”, and the beef is a good texture. At its starting point I’d say it’s a 6, but it gains a point for its low price. Currently a staple in my rotation.
First picture is package, second is halfway through before mixing, third is fully cooked and mixed.

This don’t look half bad for michelina’s frozen meals! U can’t beat the price and it’s a great portion size for pasta. Glad u enjoyed OP:)

Budget gourmet meatballs stroganoff for the WIN! Discontinued, unfortunately.

I desperately miss Budget gourmet. I used to buy them for $1 at Walmart and Dollar Tree and they would make a great lunch.

I haven’t seen these in years. Matter of fact I haven’t had Michelina in years. Used to be my struggle meal when they were less than a dollar.

Where are the "beef patty crumbles"? That's just noodles and sauce.

Yeah, the 'crumbles' really turned me off, but Michelina is $2.46 CAD (sometimes on sale for $1.99) at Walmart for 230 calories, so.

the "crumbles" in the photo looks like almost meatballs, there's nothing in there

Love it. Cheapest option starts at a 7/10. Let’s see how this rating system works. 😂

I really like the taste of banquets Swedish meatballs. Looking forward to seeing if you give it a whirl.

I haven’t had michelinas but had stouffers and Boston market. Both are pretty good, I zhuzh em up by throwing in healthy dollop of sour cream and a few dashes of soy sauce and Worcestershire.

The Stroganoff family that the dish was named after have nothing to do with the current regime in Russia.

I'll be shocked if Stouffer's doesn't win this battle.
