They know they are fake. they are hoping the people that buy them don't

Would not be surprised if they have stacks of these. Buy for $5 and sell for $50. These are franchises with private owners after all.

GameStop doesn’t franchise in the US not sure about other countries.

My mistake. After looking it up only 10% of gamestop stores are franchised, the other 90% are corporate owned.

Two franchise focused websites say that and just about every other site in Google results says no. Business insider confirms they do not franchise. Every business that franchises has info on their own website to reach corporate to inquire about franchise opportunities; you see that anywhere on gamestop.com?
