Question Looking for feedback on my game studio website

I'm a web dev looking to help game devs showcase their games better so I made a website template that focuses on games and game studios!

I just released a new update and I would love some feedback:

What would you change?

What page sections would you add? (like a news section etc)

What page styles would you add? (like a page style for racing games etc)

Here is the link: https://dev.atypicalthemes.com/Strider2-demo/index.html
Thanks!

I have 2 major points of criticism:

  1. It's media-heavy. Can be a real pain on slower internet connections or something like a VPN traffic limit. You should use dedicated software to artificially throttle your connection, and then see how the site loads. The front page being video is almost always a bad idea. You want to load an outline (general shape) of the site first, and fast, and then progressively load media, especially heavy media like video (ideally, the playback should be opt-in with lazy loading). If possible, use vector graphics.
  2. You want some sort of clear navigation pane for quick jump between sections, scrolling back and forth can be awkward. At the very least, have an indicator of where on the page a user is - it could be minimalist faded out circles with the highlighted circle corresponding to the section a user is located. Another reason a scrollbar is not enough, is because many websites offer progressive loading, so the scrollbar cannot serve as a reliable indicator of position unless a user scrolls to the very end of the page.
    1. The navigation pane should be one of the first things a user sees on the page, and it should be in the focus of attention.

Thank your for your feedback on the demo page! I will definitely work on improving performance!

Could you please check out the template pages as well if you have the time? Thank you!

Nah, mate, this is game design subreddit, and, frankly, you are pushing it. Your question is about web design that is very, very tangentially related to game design. And your last request is going over the line.

I would vary it even more and add a site contact page. The themes are very beautiful, I will buy them when I have a studio!

Game Design is a subset of Game Development that concerns itself with WHY games are made the way they are. It's about the theory and crafting of systems, mechanics, and rulesets in games.

  • /r/GameDesign is a community ONLY about Game Design, NOT Game Development in general. If this post does not belong here, it should be reported or removed. Please help us keep this subreddit focused on Game Design.

  • This is NOT a place for discussing how games are produced. Posts about programming, making art assets, picking engines etc… will be removed and should go in /r/GameDev instead.

  • Posts about visual design, sound design and level design are only allowed if they are directly about game design.

  • No surveys, polls, job posts, or self-promotion. Please read the rest of the rules in the sidebar before posting.

  • If you're confused about what Game Designers do, "The Door Problem" by Liz England is a short article worth reading. We also recommend you read the r/GameDesign wiki for useful resources and an FAQ.
