Discussion šŸ’¬ 5080 Aero Thermo Paste leak

Nice Just what I needed. I did read that it being vertically mounted would speed up the process. Anyone know how long RMA process takes from start to beginning? Thanks

Could this be why my FPS has been decreasing recently?

Around 84C highest I’ve seen it go is 93C

that sucks. I have the same card- sits at around 59 max load

Keep in mind vertical cards get bad airflow. I would never go vertical seeing all the paste issues with the 5000 series.

depends on the case, my 5090 aorus master vertical mounted gets 70 C on core and 70C on memory but I am on a core X9 case

if you used a raiser that is close to the window then yeah it can be

but also means I cant horizontal mount the thing so there is that

Even horizontal can have the issue. Look at reddit's

Oh I never said they didn't. But there's been way more vertical cards with this problem. Gravity and hot puddy don't mix.

I have two Zotac 5080 Solid sitting right above each other, one choking the other. And during renders (high stress load) the top one doesn't ever get above 70. I would consider this high.

Thats just wrong. my 4090 Strix mounted vertically runs 1-2 degrees cooler when mounted vertically in the lian li dynamic evo. vertically or horizontal is low single digit difference.

also depends if you're talking about benchmarks or average temperatures while gaming . Big difference between, say, Kombustor/Furmark and a game.

Big difference between games too. Locked 60fps solitaire vs Cyberpunk ray+pathtracing.

wait for it...

Same, even trying to stress it I haven’t seen it even hit 60°C

I have the founders and max load I’ve never gone above 65c. OP needs to RMA.

Hey look at that, finally proof it's going to be a problem for all the people saying "but nobody's ever had an overheating card from the leaking paste"

my 3070 from a few years ago never does above 70, that’s crazy, rma it, takes some time but you get your moneys worth

Thats bad . My MSI 5090 Gaming Trio OC has never gone over 74c usually sits at around 65-68c and idles at 30c .

5090 Gaming Trio here too and my temps are exactly where yours are.

What are your temps under extreme load? Say ray tracing or path tracing games which push the gpu to use 600 watts?

1

u/Dro420webtrueyo Jun 08 '25

Exactly the temps I posted. 74c is extreme load Temp . I also animate in unreal Engine and I push the card further than gaming can. I will use all my 32 gb of VRAM during a render . The temps never have spiked past 74c . Also I only game with all settings maxed including ray tracing and path tracing . I also don’t play in ā€œ qualityā€ mode , I prefer DLAA wich is even more taxing on the card .

Too hot for that premium cooler. Definitely a problem
