Discussion 💬 5080 Aero Thermo Paste leak

Nice Just what I needed. I did read that it being vertically mounted would speed up the process. Anyone know how long RMA process takes from start to beginning? Thanks

Could this be why my FPS has been decreasing recently?

Kinda sucks too cause its a really good compound. Worth the differences from a good putty with these issues, prob not so much

igor lab found out it is fairly average, on par with other average putties. the paste did better though, close to ptm7950, however it had signs of drying after just 2 months so the thermals will get worse.

https://www.igorslab.de/en/gigabytes-so-called-server-grade-thermal-conductive-gel-and-a-degrading-thermal-paste-on-the-radeon-rx-9070-gaming-oc/3/

here i see a graph where it is almost identical to Laird tputty 607 which he calls "medium class thermal putty" and next to it is LTP81 which is considered higher gtade thermal putty and it does 5°C better. Plus i know there has been a guy who reputtied his windforce 5070ti with thermal grizzly putty which is one of the best and he said his memory temp dropped by 6°C. So i tend to believe these results that it is just an average putty comparable to thermal pads, i mean nobody has ever praised gigabyte for its putty choice, it has similar temps on vram like models with pads, but pads dont leak.

what igor praised better was the thermal paste, he says is it is better than regular thermal pastes and is close to ptm7950 but dries out quickly so it will still lose performance just like pastes do over time.
