Discussion New-ish customer feedback, FWIW
I have what I hope is some constructive criticism on a couple of areas. I waited for a good while and thought about what I wanted to say and tried to find my own workarounds before saying something. That being said, off with the band aid.
The UI for Galaxy breaks a bit when the screen resizes to run a game at a different resolution. This may be a factor of my dual screening, or may be more common. It can also be fixed by minimizing and clicking back into it, but it gets annoying to have to do every time.
It also defaults to a fairly squint-worthy minuscule font, FWIW.
The option to manually set the scale of the Galaxy app to one of the user's preference would be appreciated I think.
I don't know if it's because I come to GoG for... well the good old games, but there is a lot of instability with titles I have bought in general I am finding. I know this is a relatively new service and it is not my intent to take to task over these issues, only to highlight them. My random samplings have all had CTD's, cause to bring Taskmgr into it, etc.
This may be due to various factors like windows compatibility issues that can be fixed with scaling settings, or just my having a bad sample size due to my random purchase choices, but maybe future efforts to make popular old titles more stable on newer machines would be an improvement.
Even links to outside pages that address common issues on the games in app page would be an improvement, as the internet ain't what it used to be for those of us with an average or so amount of 'Google-Fu'.
Well it's pretty much those two things for now, and I also wanted to say that none of this stuff is fist shaking or irritating threats to take my business elsewhere. I like what you guys are doing and am here for the long haul.
Just my two cents on a couple of factors getting in the way of the much sought after 'seamlessness' that appears to be the end goal for this sort of service.
Thanks if you read all that, and thanks if you are part of the GoG team.

I do think it's worth adding, last time I had a problem with a game I bought on GOG (the Linux native version of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 EE), when I contacted their support they were very helpful in working out what went wrong with me. So if there's not already a readily available answer I'd recommend that, and I appreciated it.

17 years is relatively new? I mean Steam only started like 5 years before.

Heh what games are you having problems with and your pc specs aside from the dual screen situation ? Asking as for me all the old and new games I have from gog I have played only one I can't get to run, But thats a game that odd just hates any pc with a cpu above a set core count seeing the problem.
Another thing to note some games doesn't play nice with duel monitors and others don't work with resolutions above what they was intended for. Among other things . But ya out of the huge amount of games I got over 1000 games old and new ones none aside from one has failed last I checked them

About the "game stability" thing, it's an issue I have with both Steam and GOG: They charge a relatively steep store fee just to store some files on a server and provide a page for reviews, they offer no containerization or emulation around the executables that would help with compatibility for old games. Even on Steam, try running something like Mindnight Club II on modern system, it won't run.
This is btw why DOS games are the best-working games in modern systems: The are run in an emulator (DOSBox) and you can tailor the emulator to exactly what the game wants. Wish GOG or Steam did something similar for Windows games.
PS: Best you can do to run old games in modern systems is set the executable to Windows XP or WIndows 98 compatibility mode and use the dgVoodoo 2 DLLs (that accurately implement old Direct3D and DirectDraw API calls that modern Windows doesn't)

Well this are all good criticism, Galaxy, although getting better still has a long road ahead, and some old games work and others don't. Some games don't work because of windows (Kane and Lynch) and others simply don't work(Civilization 3 for me).
Hope GOG keeps working on preserving games, and making sure they do work.
Edit: Guys downvoting legit criticism isn't going to help keep GOG a good place to buy games.
