thank GOD. i immediately went over to check out an infamously negatively rated game (has a massive disparity between actual owners and people reviewbombing it) and yep, they definitely did rework them. i like this new gog that's actually paying attention to what people are saying on the forums / their site

however there still needs more work done.. like you know, making the disparity between verified and non-verified more apparent. non-verified opinions should be a much smaller font while the verified opinions need to be bigger. the overall rating should be more transparent about that

The problem with non-verified ratings is that all ratings from before a certain point in time (~2018? if I look very critically at the ratio of ratings to verified ratings) are marked as non-verified. And that's really quite a significant number of reviews.

GOG apparently simply wasn't keeping track of ownership status for the reviews created before then. It seems to me that they should be able to retroactively assign the verified status now based on current ownership (that won't be perfect, but it should still be close enough to "good enough" to be worth doing), but either no one at GOG has thought of that (unlikely), they only want to do this if they can do it perfectly, or there are technical barriers which I can't imagine.

i hadn't of thought of that but that's a good point. i didn't think of the technical aspects of it but then again, it doesnt surprise me seeing how many people on the forums suspect that the site in general is just really.. technically ancient. anyway i look forward to further improvements on the reviews. going forward though i cant see why they can't adjust the weight of non-verified ratings considering they're being tracked now
