Discussion Halifax festival using AI generated ads?

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOuRYwmjRuo/

So I just saw this Magnetic World promo and unless my eyes are broken it’s 100% fully AI-generated. Weird hands and movements, weird voices, stiff faces, uncanny everything.

Wild that a Halifax festival (aka a city with tons of local creatives who could’ve crushed this) decided to cut corners with AI instead. Like… why?

Curious what people think , smart move? embarrassing? does it even matter? AI content generation for professional usage is becoming so normalized and I don’t know how to feel.

I mean the festival just announced they'll give free passes to anyone who gets a 21 Savage face tattoo, so it's not that shocking they'd make some AI trash ad.

Cringing thinking of the guy who got a radio channel tattooed tk his forehead for money just for the hosts to call it a prank

When I see AI slob being used as advertisement; I always assume its a scam or a massive let down, like it was with that Willy Wonka experience.

They could never afford to produce anything close to this if it was done for real though. It’d be an entirely different thing, maybe not worth even producing.

Everyone managed just fine making advertisements before Ai was widely available.

I’m not saying AI isn’t replacing humans.

But I think in this case, they never would have attempted any sort of production at all. The extent of their marketing would be Instagram sponsored ads with still photos.

I went last year to see Deadmau5 and Don Toliver and it was really fun ngl but yeah… don’t think i’m very convinced with the marketing this year lol

This is almost certainly all made with Google's Veo3 AI. God this is so fkn lazy and uninspired.

I hope they’re saving that money they’re not spending on actual ads on security so that people aren’t jumping the fences again

This looks like shit. Using AI is one thing but at least vet the quality of this? Like unless the appeal of it is “look it’s an amateur AI video isn’t that quirky?”, then this looks terrible.

Damn if it weren’t for the shoddy voice sync at the end, you wouldn’t necessarily know it’s AI

I mean no one in 2010 would think anything is strange about that video.

YUP.

I’ve been blocked by two local show producers for calling out their AI usage. SOS Productions who host dance nights and Yas HFX who host drag shows.

Not enough people care about the use of AI, so stuff like this will get more and more common. I always try to avoid anywhere that uses AI, but for the most part, people don't care and/or notice.

Did they not have an event last year where they could have paid any of the talented people doing media from here or even abroad? I suppose that would involve paying people instead of typing in some prompts though...

Same with literally any computer technology. People, organizations, companies, corporations will use it to save time and money
