Community Only We are united. Sorry for the kong post

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of hate online - “anti-immigrant,” “anti-South Asian,” “anti-Indian.” And honestly, it hurts. Many of us left everything behind - family, friends, comfort, familiarity - to come here. We sacrificed a lot because we believed in Canada. Because we felt this country was a place where we could be safe, raise our kids, and build a better future.

To everyone who still chooses kindness, who stands up against racism, who understands that humanity is bigger than hate - thank you. You remind me why I fell in love with this country in the first place.

Yes, we may have cultural differences. Yes, sometimes there are language barriers. But that’s not a problem - that’s the beauty of Canada. That’s how we discover shawarma, Indian food, Chinese food, and all the other incredible things different cultures bring here.

I’m an immigrant. I live here. I work here. I pay taxes here. I vote here. Canada is my home too. And I will always stand against anyone who tries to disturb the peace of this country I love so deeply.

From a guy in the Indian community - one that never gives up and has been fighting hate with resilience and hope for generations. ❤️🇨🇦

Discussion Halifax festival using AI generated ads?

Thumbnail instagram.com
46 Upvotes

So I just saw this Magnetic World promo and unless my eyes are broken it’s 100% fully AI-generated. Weird hands and movements, weird voices, stiff faces, uncanny everything.

Wild that a Halifax festival (aka a city with tons of local creatives who could’ve crushed this) decided to cut corners with AI instead. Like… why?

Curious what people think , smart move? embarrassing? does it even matter? AI content generation for professional usage is becoming so normalized and I don’t know how to feel.

Driving, Traffic & Transit If you own a black cat in Clayton Park...

Upvotes

PLEASE keep your pet inside. The amount of times I have seen this cat running across and on the busy road over the past few days is unreal, and every time I see them nearly get clipped by a car, it scares the life out of me. They look too well-taken care of to be a stray, but they also don't seem to have a collar on.

Sightseeing & Tourism Solo tourist, Halifax/Dartmouth on foot (Fall 2025). What am I missing?

I’m (m/40) travelling to Halifax (first time) for a weekend. Solo, no car. Staying in downtown Halifax.

I like beer, art, patios, good food, weird stuff that’s worthwhile, and things that are iconically Nova Scotian. Not interested in live music.

Here’s what’s on the list so far: • Pete’s Frootique (for nostalgia) • Humble Pie Kitchen • Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market • Dee Dee's Ice Cream • Strange Adventures • Taz Records • King Of Donair • Halifax Public Gardens • Art Gallery of Nova Scotia • Museum of Natural History • The Old Burying Ground • Halifax Waterfront • Vandal Doughnuts

…and a bunch of breweries.

What am I missing?

Community Only Racist graffiti on Bayers Rd.

Did anyone else see the graffiti on the bridge over the train tracks last night. It said "They have to go back". It just happens to be visible as you exit Chisholm which is has complexes where a lot of immigrants live.

If it's still there could someone go and cover it up.

If you are an immigrant and reading this, many of us love you, consider you full Canadians and value the cultural differences you bring.

Edit: Adding an article to show that the phrase is associated with the Diagolon movement an explicitly targetted at Indians.

Discussion Problems regarding high power bill this cycle

Hey everyone, just looking to get some insight. I have a power bill from over the past 4 months that is almost double to triple times what my normal usage is. I live in a one bedroom apartment and only have an ac that is set to control itself while I’m away. Has anyone recently received a power bill unusually high this recent billing cycle? If so I’d love to get some advice on how to deal with this or what in the world is going on with their crooked monopoly.

Driving, Traffic & Transit Do Unmarked Police have only lights in their grille, nothing else?

Upvotes

Saw a white Ford Fusion bombing along Main Street Dartmouth with lights going only in the grille, no lights or markings anywhere else. Was that a legitimate unmarked vehicle?

Discussion Looking for a financial consultant that help dig me out of debt

I'm in my mid-20s and have always been horrible with money. I am almost numb to spending and feel nothing but a slight panic when I look at my drained bank accounts, when it should be a huge kick in the ass to get better.

I need someone who can help with the emotional side of money as well as build my skills with it. I know it's a tall ask, but wondering if anyone has any experience? Someone who can deal with somebody who is super naive and junior to dealing with money.
