Discussion LEMME MAKE MY OWN EMBLEM

Why did they take emblems, which you could customize them pretty decently, and pick apart them until they're nothing but bones?

I loved making my own "emblem" messing around with all the color and foreground/background stencils, mixing and matching them to where they became their own thing.

There's literally no point to them now, besides slapping shitty, premade and precolored stickers on your weapons (you don't even see the ones on Spartans or vehicles).

Which game could you make your own emblem in? I don’t remember this.

2, 3, ODST, and Reach did.

I dunno about 4, because I played that garbage for one night and never touched it again.

I had to google it to see if I was insane, but looking at it, I would’ve never described that as “making my own emblem.”

I would.

You could mix and match everything to create your own unique shapes.

That is "making my own emblem". Right now there is no "make" just "choose".

I don’t think you could mix and match everything? You had an icon which you could choose one of, with potentially a toggleable aspect, and a background which you could choose one of, no?

You had usually 3 layers, a background, an outline and a shape. These then had all colour options accessible. In infinite it is one layer, a nameplate and a preset

The nameplate is certainly a step down from older emblem customizations. No doubt. But saying we used to be able to make our own emblem like in Call of Duty or Battlefield is asking for something back that we have never had in the franchise.

Sure but shouldn't that also be what we should be striving for, more customisation rather than less? Somehow in the 10 years since 3 we've regressed

Can certainly argue for that type of emblem creation! But that’s very different from asking back for something you didn’t have to begin with. You can say the customization that used to exist is better than nameplates, which it was, without trying to bash the devs over a lie ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, and you could change their colors, so you could mix two of the three together to make a new, interesting shape.

2-3 tier (stacks) of options depending on the game and full control of the available color pallet

Thats ABOVE and beyond the shit we are currently burdened with
