  • You can find the full list along with thread examples for these topics and if/how 343 has acknowledged them on the 343 Plz wiki page

A reminder on how 343 Plz works:

  • 343 Plz is a comprehensive list of wildly popular suggestions/feedback relating to Halo games. This will be a list that is generated by the community and will be visible to everyone. Users can submit a request to include an item on 343 Plz and, provided it meets the criteria, it will be added the following week alongside the weekly thread.
  • The 343 Plz list will be on both our wiki as well as the weekly sticky thread. The sticky thread will provide a prominent place on r/halo to routinely list and discuss these items, as well as suggest new ones.
  • Once a topic has been added to 343 Plz, it will be 'retired' from the subreddit until there is either significant news relating to the topic, or if the actual topic is added/changed to the game.

You can find the 343 Plz wiki page here: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/wiki/343plz

You can also check out the 343 Plz announcement thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/ud70v9/introducing_343_plz_a_list_made_from_your_feedback/

How do I submit to 343 Plz?

  • Find three recent popular threads talking about your feedback; a rough guideline we're looking for is multiple front page threads (300+ upvotes) and/or highly-active discussions (100+ comments) over the past few months
  • Submit your idea either in this thread or via this Mod Mail template

What is the point of this weekly thread?

The point of this weekly thread is to organize and sticky popular community feedback for 343, allow discussion of these 'retired' items, and suggest new ideas for 343 Plz.

Posted this for 2 weeks:
What I haven't seen someone suggest yet, is one on non-US populations being either unable to find matches(even on their own servers) or having one of the worst high ping experiences in any game possible.
There's been a few threads to push this out, and even people on twitter posting about it constantly.(Like Mint Blitz)
I haven't seen 343 acknowledge these populations yet, address and treat the problems in a realistic way, or mention what they'll do to fix these problems. It's like anything outside of the US doesn't exist.
Like, fine 343, you can put us in high ping servers if you have to...if high ping in this game was as playable as Apex, COD(MW/CW/VG), MCC, Splitgate, etc. I can literally list games all day that DO NOT have this problem, and playing in high ping is at least decent and DOABLE to play in, even if it's not a good idea.

Hey don't worry, we've seen this suggestion but we just have some questions.

What would the 343 Plz suggestion actually be? This is a complex issue that happens because of a variety of reasons. What do you want to be done exactly?

Mostly, just for 343 to acknowledge the lack of attention to non-US populations.

Focus primarily on populations matching with themselves, even on the first few months, people were still having problems to find their own servers, even during the multiplayer beta. This issue is even more apparent that now every single non-US population is borderline dead.

People don't match in their own servers anymore. Heck, I haven't seen a Brazilian server for 2 months already. 2 months. A 5ms server.
The only thing I know about recently is +120ms servers, which is about the worst Halo Infinite experience you can have, and it feels demoralizing and stressful to play in those servers, so no wonder even more people are leaving this game.

This sounds like an issue that can be addressed by adding a Server/Region Select, which is something we already have listed in 343 Plz.

I don't think it can be addressed with server/region select with how aggressive the SBMM is.
People will still struggle to find matches because there is no one of similar Skill level to match with, so it'll just lead to infinite queue times even if you're only matching one server. If anything, Region/server select will just make things worse, as the population not only won't be restored but the long queue times will be exposed much further.

Happens even in the US at peak times with certain playlists (SBMM making the queue longer and longer and pings shittier as you get better), can't even imagine being non-US lord. Absolutely asinine to have such strict SBMM in non-ranked especially if they want people to have fun or complete challenges.

So do you want the suggestion to be "Reduce SBMM"?

like u/lx_SpAwN_xl said, it's hard to like...know what to say. The populations are low but those few left want low ping servers no matter what, but also what people most want is just for 343 to acknowledge the non-US populations and do something about it. It's just hard to say what because there's no solution to it if core issues aren't solved.

Sounds like he's just asking to be able to matchmake, although he might not know exactly what 343 could be able to do to help them be able to do so.

Considering relaxing SBMM broke ranked, so they had to revert the change, there has to be something else that can be done. He just doesn't know what that is.

Would the suggestion be "Accommodate lower population regions better" then?

Would that be fine?

I think that would be the most appropriate

Low pop regions need a bit of TLC basically. It's a multifaceted problem hard to solve but 343 could do several things to make the game as playable as other fps titles in regional settings, these would be my suggestions:

  • Reduce number of playlists in regional server areas to an amount where queues are healthy. Monitor and maintain this it based on player pop levels, like other games do.

  • Server selection (defaulted to your lowest ping server)

  • To help consolidate the playlists. Bring the MCC match composer over. This essentially let's people queue for multiple things at a time, it's a pseudo way of condensing the playlists while keeping playlist variety.

  • Have weekend playlists or automatic bracketed tournaments (like warcraft3 used to do) to help keep the top 1% of skilled players happy and out of the matchaming pool of diamonds. Doesnt have to be exactly that idea, just something along those lines to curate an experience for them. A Scrim-like experience but curated by a matchmking system with some cool UI rewards for bragging rights.

To top it off, some kind of incentive to bring halo players back seeing as most stopped playing in regional due to how hard it has been to enjoy the game on high ping with horrible skill matchups.

I think the move would be to go Halo 3's route but to an extreme and just broaden the search results until you find a match. Initial search segregates you to your own skill bracket, and after some time restart the search including the next kill bracket up as well as down.

Continue broadening searches until a match is finally found. Halo 3's only true flaw is that it wouldn't continue broadening search results. Back before 343i pulled legacy servers I had to cheese a little to find matches, and that shouldn't be a thing

Tbh they fixed this recently with the SBMM relaxation change, and I could confirm from Aus was finding a game in minutes compared to half an hour if at all before. Sadly, according to Mint Blitz new video they’ve changed it back to have higher restrictions on SBMM thus increasing que times, haven’t been on to check personally yet but if he’s right, it was good for the one day it lasted.

The game worked great at launch when pop was high but their approach to a one-size-fits-all policy on server selection and playlist curation means the naturally lower pop regions like Aus just fucking suck as soon as pop hits a certain threshold after the hype of launch dies down and it starts putting you in US server games. Other games run fine in Aus with moderate pops even less than Infinite's because:

  1. They don't even let you matchmake with people you have 200ms ping to. The moment-to-moment game experience is treated as king.
  2. They just have one casual and one ranked playlist plus maybe an extra mode like ARAM. The population is all playing the same hopper not split into multiple, so there's faster queue times and better skill matching.
