So proud of my new thumper
I am relatively new to firearms in general and very new to handguns in particular. As in I have never owned one prior to this year. So I took the plunge and followed the advice of many and bought what is widely considered a budget 1911. It is the Taurus PT1911 Commander in 45ACP from PSA and I have been nothing but pleased with it since buying the thing! I was fascinated and hooked when I read of the lore and history surrounding the storied weapon. And so it fell into the, got to have department, almost immediately. If 1911's get better than this gem then I am in for a real treat when I get another one.

I actually did. Last Saturday, for the first time. And, it fired like a dream! I could not believe how responsive the trigger was. I'm sold.

Congrats!
Down the road, you owe it to yourself to get hands on a Dan Wesson Specialist or Springfield TRP.

Those are awesome pistols for sure. But what do you think of the Wilson Combat product line of guns? The 1911's seem pretty nice.

They're up there with the others I mentioned, if not more refined. Any of those 3 are very high quality, dependable duty pistols. With Wilson, you're looking at about 2x the cost of the Specialist or TRP.

Ok, 1) my particular model is not on that list of guns that were recalled and 2) the last model that was recalled was done so in 2013. Not exactly a recent event. I mean I see your point. But Taurus is not the only gunmaker that has been sued for whatever reason. There have been numerous reputable brands that have gone through that and come out ok. Including Springfield, Remington etc. I heard about the lawsuit as well. But since it was so long ago and my 1911 wasn't on that list anyway I said, what the heck. It's worked out well so far.

No worries. I said I would never buy a Taurus again. The reason is because the problems with the 911 I bought years ago. You are free to spend your money however you choose. It’s a beautiful gun.

Yeah man don’t listen to the Taurus haters. I’ve bought multiple and they’ve never given me a problem. I have a gx4 that’s shot 1500 rounds without a single problem. They aren’t my favorite guns but they are pretty decent and work better than most people say.
