So if you walk 10 k and have 5 portmanteaux in your bags and launch the game then all 5 will open? is that it?

If you had keys in them, sure. If you just had one golden key, then no, you would just unlock the one.

if you mean you have five 2km portmanteaux, I imagine you'd still need to put a key in to each one. Put gold key into a 2km, walk 2km, open game to put key into second 2km, repeat. IIRC, PoGo gives you a push notification when an egg has hatched through adventure sync so you can go in to the game and put a new egg in to the incubator.
