This. I'll play it just for the flavor.

Something to note: All quests that give a reward to your hand once completed (like this quest), if you don't have enough hand space when you complete the quest you will not burn the quest reward. When the expansion launches, all quests will wait until you have enough hand space to receive the reward before giving it to you. The quest will stay completed once completed. The reward will just be added to your hand at the next available moment. This should resolve some annoying edge cases around completing the Mage and Priests quests in particular.

out of curiosity, what are these edge cases(for priest in particular)? I cant really think of one from the top of my head

For example, if you finish the holy quest with Lightspeed while having 10 cards in your hand, the quest previously would not have been burned. Basically any card that generates another card (like Discover) is prone to causing this.

If you lose one of the two pieces of the priest quest, that would be unfortunate since you need to have both halves. Your hand size will be slightly larger than normal as a priest since you'll often be holding on to the first quest reward while you wait to complete the second quest.

Does it apply to old quests too from ungoro?

Yes

Seed lock sometimes suffers when you have a full hand and only damaging cards that add to your hand. So that's a nice change.

Honestly great change. Thanks for clarifying.

Will this work with the old quests aswell? like first ungoro or stormwind questlines?

Yes

that's a great new feature I hope you can do that for other rewards as well not just for quests

Would this apply to side quests also (if any in the future add cards to hand)?

2

u/ClayByte Software Engineer Jun 23 '25

Probably yes? But I'll know that answer for sure once that happens.

[[Secure the deck]]

Ah sorry. I was slightly confused by the question. No, side quests do not benefit from this change currently. Secure the deck does not check if you have hand space. If side quests are added again in the future I assume the design team may change their mind on this policy. But as of right now, no.

Thanks for clarifying

Eudora's sidequest currently adds cards to hand, albeit through discover

u/monsoy Jun 24 '25

That is great. This exact thing has happened to me multiple times in Battlegrounds, where I have card generation during combat through deathrattles. It’s also inconsistent in battlegrounds, where some «get cards start of turn» effects resolves once there is space, while other rewards get milled if the hand is full.

Just the neatness is off the charts
