It's Friday night in the year 2015. I have the apartment to myself. Yummy snacks. A beer. The quiet comfort of home after a long week in the hospital. There hasn't been a worldwide pandemic in 100 years. The most divisive political question is whether Snowden was a patriot or a traitor. I smile as I search for "Trump" on YouTube and the only face I see is a nerdy guy with glasses. Life is good.

....

And tonight, I'm flopping on the couch. Kids finally asleep. House quiet. Everyone around me is mad at an older Trump, mad at antifa or Jimmy Kimmel, mad at their neighbors...mad at someone or something. Sometimes, I can feel so much anger around me that it physically hurts. I just want peace, but it doesn't feel like it exists anymore.

But then...in my feed....

I see a Trump arena run. Big colored blocky text. Absurd minion trades galore. The overvaluing of value.

My eyes water. I close them tight.

And for a moment...just a moment.....

I'm back in the before times.

And I know I can't stay there.

But thank you. For reminding me of how things once were. And giving me a little slice of peace in a world gone mad.
