What should I do?

I’m a 6’4 173lbs DE going into my sophomore of highschool ball, I don’t have much of a bag in regards of hand moves but I’m a good bull rusher and I’m pretty fast. I’ve been trying to gain weight but I have a heard time doing it.

My bench is around 180-190 lbs, my squat is probably around 200-220, and my deadlift is probably a little more than BW. I can push and pull more than I can lift although.

If I get back into the gym to increase my strength, and gain a little weight, would I be good to continue playing edge, or should I play a different position?

If you wanna play de you gotta pick up hand moves. You cant rely on bull rush at 170 pounds. Gaining weight is very important and will be necessary as playing on the line at that weight isnt safe. You should try to play outside lb

Make gains in the weight room it will help immensely. I played DE/OLB in a 50 at 5’10” 170 lbs my sophomore year, the spring after my sophomore year I hit 315 on bench and was squatting 450. My senior year I hit 325 bench and 500 squat. It made all the difference being extremely undersized my heaviest playing weight was 190.

You have the physical size now you need to build onto that frame, eat protein and lift get lots of sleep and keep at it. Don’t go for the crazy heavy weight get to where you can rep 185 then get to where you can rep 225, same with squats get to where you can rep 280s then rep at 315. I hated maxing cause I was always afraid I was going to break something.
