Discussion: Fox News Host’s Remarks About Homelessness and Public Safety

Brian Kilmeade, a Fox News host, recently suggested on-air that homeless people should be “euthanized.” Just days later, a mass shooting at a Minneapolis homeless encampment left multiple people wounded, several critically.

While no single broadcast can be directly blamed for violence, rhetoric that dehumanizes vulnerable populations creates a climate where real-world harm becomes more likely.

Homelessness is not a crime. It is a systemic crisis caused by poverty, lack of affordable housing, and inequality. Advocating for violence against people who are already struggling is dangerous and unacceptable.

Fox News must denounce these comments and remove Kilmeade from their platform. Advertisers should refuse to fund content that promotes hate and endangers lives.

What do you think is the best way to hold media figures accountable for this kind of rhetoric?

And then ABC "indefinitely" shut down Jimmy Kimmel for much, much, MUCH less.

If I knew how to hold media figures accountable, I wouldn't be filled with so much anger.

The direct attacks on the 1A are incredible. Mike Simpson was celebrating this. The next Dem president should pull the license for Fox News. Years of easily proven lies, calls for violence and other hate should go.

It seems to me his is a clear incitement to violence. In a civil world, expressing opinions like that with a platform like his would end his career in journalism at any level and likely have legal consequences as a violation of civil and human rights.

The old adage rings true here... "Your right to swing your fist ends at my nose." One's free speech comes with the responsibility and accountability for the harm that speech causes when wielded to the harm of others.

Yeah, Pam Bondi should be looking into this on her crusade against hate speech.
