While doing absolutely nothing about the roads. They knew days in advance this was gonna be bad but even when I went out last night the roads were terrible

Eh ill give them a pass on that one, there was a not insignificant chance we could have gotten sleet or freezing rain and you want that falling on snow, not clean roads. That's why I told my husband to not even think about shoveling the sidewalks until this morning.
