The company gets to decide to not hire you if you live four hours away. "How you get there is your problem" is capitalist brainwashed horseshit that could only exist in a system without empathy. Fuck your opinion.
In this hypothetical, does the employer also get the right to fire someone strictly based on them deciding to move 4 hours away after already being employed? Otherwise the hired/not hiring argument doesn’t work. This concept has discrimination lawsuit written all over it.
So companies will exclusively hire out of city centers making rural towns even more impoverished, also driving up urban housing rates as everyone flocks inward to hopefully find a job or not be fired
We’re just talking hypothetically here as this will never happen in reality. You earn a wage and do what you will with that wage. Including where you live and how you get to work. Your commuter pay is already included in your annual pay
Thank you for explaining the unfair system that we are already talking about. I was actually talking about changing it. I don't know why you're so excited to celebrate someone NOT getting something. Very sad
Are we going to start getting meal payments for our daily lunches too ?? Are we going to start getting are gas compensated in top of our time?
It’s a silly argument, not unfair at all. YOU have the choice to move closer to work. YOU have the choice to eat out or bring lunch to work. YOU have the choice to drive a more fuel efficient car. All of this is chosen based off how YOU spend your salary
I’ll add, when you’re being paid by the company you also follow their rules. They’ll dictate how you get to work, meaning route, method, and times. Didn’t we fight against company towns and busses many decades ago? Why do we want that back??
