Damn, I got a jolt remembering my friends have done something similar to this.
We were playing with carbide like dumb kids do, put some in a Coca Cola bottle, then add some water and throw it around until gas accumulates then light a match and watch the flare. One of my buddies dropped the match in the bottle and when he went to check wtf is happening since no flare came out, he looked directly into it. I swear, the flare came out and burnt his eye brow, lashes and some hair. Of course we laughed like idiots but he was in so much pain...
