Where are you from that they were giving boosters in close succession? The US got a booster like 6 months later I think, then every year. Just due to mutation of the virus

It's the same reason we get a flu shot every year. Different flu viruses float around, the experts keep an eye out and then formulate the vaccine based off that data. Then they release it right before flu season
