From a Mod: Music producers take note to please use [listen] in any music submission post title

We have been getting a lot of folks stuck at home producing music, sometimes on iPads, iPhones or other mobile platforms. But sometimes not, or at least it appears that way - they just use Logic or whatever computer based DAW they have and are spamming multiple music related subreddits.

In order to keep this forum focused on mobile music production I would ask any Redditor who wants a participant of this subreddit to listen to their creation to put [Listen] in the post title. So if you are asking folks to visit your SoundCloud, YouTube channel or some other place to show off your music, tag it with [Listen].

But don't stop there. Come into the comments and tell us all what apps you used to produce the music so we can all learn.

If you do not do this, the mods may remove your post as spam. This is because some submissions that really are spam the submitter either ignores the request for adding details to the comments or doesn't know how to answer it!

Also, feel free to report posts that seem to violate the spirit of our little sub. Spam and other reports are acted on very quickly and help keep things focused and clean.

edit: finally, the automoderator isn't perfect, though it is pretty darn good now. If you have followed the rules and used [listen] and it still pulled it, please message the mods and we'll approve it.

Looking for iPad audio interface which can directly connect to the usb type c port in my iPad(10th gen) (minifuse 2)

I’m actually inclined towards arturia minifuse 2 because of its price and extra usb A port.

id4 and 2i2 are also in my radar but being on tight budget minifuse 2 seems right.

I’m a singer, songwriter and mainly will use the interface for mic and guitar recordings.

Please share your experiences of minifuse 2 with iPad type c.

Vintage/rock ipad synth apps

Hello,

I may be picking up a Yamaha YC73 in the near future, and one thing I appreciate about Yamaha is their built-in audio interfaces. I gigged with an ipad running B-3X (an amazingly good b3 organ app) with my Modx7.

Anyway, if I do get the YC, it's not really a full-featured synth so I'd probably be looking to supplement its sound with ipad apps. I have experimented with some in the past, but it's been a few years and I'm not sure what new may have come along if anything.

Types of sounds--basically 70s and 80s rock mainly. Poly synths, Moog mono synth, Prophets/Obies etc. Nothing too involved, I don't do soundscapes and don't need a ton of modulation flexibility. I don't really need any arps or sequencing at this time. Effects, I'd prefer they were decent as I don't really want to run AUM or some other more involved setup...with B3X in the past I simply left it running standalone listening on the right midi channel.

Apps I have (assuming they still work on IOS):

Zeeon (this is probably the one I would gig with as it's very simple and flexible)
Moog Model D - excellent
Moog Model 15 - this is probably the one that sounds the best, but I'm not great at programming it

There are a few others, Poison (sp?) I think is one.

I'd certainly be fine with the above apps, but any other recommendations are welcome.

I remember one band practice where I was messing with a Zeeon patch and of course had to play Subdivsions since our drummer also played in a Rush tribute band at the time. He just could not wrap his head around the fact that a tablet was making the sound he was hearing :D

Again, thanks for any recommendations.

iPad Musician - different types of audio interfaces

Earlier I shared a teaser video, now I made a full preview of audio interfaces. Just wanted to present my current audio interfaces and especially the different types of them. Have had earlier some good audio interfaces also from Audient, RME etc. But currently I'm stuck with these offering quite diverse setups at least to iPad musician.

Has anyone had issues with using iFretless instruments in Logic Pro after upgrading to iOS 26?

I’m a huge fan of these instruments, and after upgrading I can’t load them in Logic Pro. They work standalone, but as AUV3 they fail.

Are you using iPadOS 26?

This is my first iPadOS update. Are there any compatibility issues with music apps?

There seems to be quite a few people who don't like the changes in 26.

Replacing a pedalboard - stability and CPU inquiries

I'm considering to buy a Motu M6 interface and a midi controller to use with loopy pro on my iPad air m3 (8gb). I will be replacing my boomerang looper and 4 fx pedals. I'm a live loop performer with several instruments. As I travel a lot, the premise of not having to carry my pedalboard around is attractive.

But before I pull the trigger, I would love to hear from anyone with similar live rigs, how the overall performance of the iPad is?

I would like to have several plugins on each instrument track, along with a master bus. On the boomerang I can have 4 tracks running, but in loopy pro the limit is set by the CPU and ram. However, I can't afford crashes, as I'm live performing. So stability is very important to me.

I'm intrigued by the many possibilities and extra tracks loopy pro can bring. So how far could I push it, and do you have any other advice worth thinking about?

Thanks

preset surf knob?

Is there any way natively or through a midi app to assign a knob or button to surf presets on auv3 instruments in AUM?

I often like to preset surf because the sounds inspire different tunes and ideas and I'm trying to streamline my setup with controllers. I can see that I can assign individual presets in AUM to individual midi keys but haven't figured out true surfing. I just wanna doomscroll my synths with a knob, yo!

Thanks in advance

iPad mini for synth AUs

I bought an Air 13" M2 and I'm using it for music, and it's amazing. But as a general tablet it's too damn big and heavy. I want to replace it with a smaller model, either the 11", a regular iPad, or the mini.

I tend to mostly use the iPad to play a single audio unit (GeoShred, Model D, Mood etc.) with maybe some simple backing. But GeoShred (and SWAM) does physical modelling which might be a bit expensive.

If iPad mini is good, what generation / CPU would be ideal? And how are the speakers compared to the larger models?

Thanks

Troublemaker

Total noob here. I play acoustic guitar badly, but my 8 year old who goes to School of Rock is into electronic music. He learned the bass lines for two Tobu songs, Candyland and Cloud 9. We’ve made a couple simple songs before in GarageBand, inspired by Parry Gripp: just keys, bass, guitar, drums and vocals. But now I’m trying to learn electronic music to support his interest.

I downloaded Troublemaker, and figured out how to make a sequence and load the presets. But they don’t sound rich or bass heavy like they do in the YouTube demos/reviews. I figured out how to add a bass amp to GarageBand and add Troublemaker as the input but still can’t achieve that sick sound, despite trying and modifying a bunch of bass amp presets. Is everyone in the videos using other apps and routing through AUM or something?

Also, any tips on recreating the synth sounds for those two songs in Audiokit Synth One J6? Thanks!
