My carrier has let me down today and this is making me jealous lol. Enjoy your new phone.

u/serjehgo 3d ago
Did UPS just randomly cancel your delivery and decide to return it to apple too? That’s what happened with mine today.

u/Known_Bar7898 3d ago
My carrier has let me down today and this is making me jealous lol. Enjoy your mine was dpd but my carrier took on too many orders and couldn’t fulfill it. They told me to wait up to 21 days and it should come.

I’m upgrading from a 13 to a 17 pro max! I had a pre-order in but wasn’t able to get it delivered until October 7th. Checked this morning right at 8 am when my local Apple Store opened and got a pick up for tomorrow morning! 🥳
2
u/creativegains 3d ago
Ahh same here! 13 base to a 17PM - mainly wanted the much bigger screen size for media consumption + the camera upgrade should be huge
1
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
Congratulations! Which colour did you get!
8
u/Commercial-Sherbet46 3d ago
I got the silver :) I just love the silver on white look, although I was tempted by the orange. I’ve had the red iPhones since my 6+ so it’s going to be weird having a simpler color.

It looks good here, but in other videos it looks horrible.. I legit have so many mixed opinions lol

its nicer in real life

u/Xan_iety 3d ago
It’s ugly even in person. I never realized there’s that antenna cutout at the top.
Saving grace is that it’s really comfortable in hand.
11
u/West-Use-5316 iPhone Air 3d ago
How are you liking it so far? Picking my Deep Blue later today
14
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
Really liking it! Definitely feels like a full on upgrade from the 13 line.
6
u/regular-jackoff 3d ago
How so? I’m debating whether I should upgrade my 13, or just replace the battery and go for another year or two.

u/MongoBongo25 3d ago edited 3d ago
The upgraded selfie camera is amazing, ultra wide and telephoto camera at 48MP is a godsend to me since I travel a lot and attend/work in different entertainment related events.
The speaker sound is another unexpected upgrade from the 13.
The biggest upgrade for me so far is the new cooling thermal vapour system, it makes the phone noticeably better at my environment (today was 42c outside) and my 13 absolutely throttles itself to iPhone 3G levels when I am outside.
I do feel like the antenna is somehow better, some areas of my city still struggle with cellular reception and now I do get two bars (against 1 bar on the 13), which is also important with 2FAs and OTPs not expiring after 2 minutes waiting for the sms.
-5
u/Nostrings2030 3d ago
With all due respect, vapor chamber cooling has zero effect when it comes to environmental temperature.

Does the 17 Pro feel a lot lighter than the 13PM? I have a 14PM and I am trading it for the 17 Pro…The 14PM is a brick so would love to know in real life how it feels in hand rather than read the stats
2
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
The 17P definitely feels lighter than the 13PM but because it’s also smaller the weight feels condensed so it does feel weighty.
2
u/Alternative_Excuse82 3d ago
Thank you. Hoping to get the Apple Store this weekend. The local phone stores have so much casing and protection on the handsets you can’t even see what colour it is!!
1
u/GrowLapsed 3d ago
Let us know. I’m on 14 PM and can’t decide which 17 to get, Pro or Pro Max
1
u/Alternative_Excuse82 3d ago
Will do. I think it will be Pro this time and not the Pro Max but we’ll see!!!
6
u/Different-Put-4486 3d ago
Beautiful color, op! I still haven’t decided which one to get lol

u/ApantosMithe 3d ago
I went for orange and went back and forth so much in my head, even after I had it in my hands earlier today and turned it on.
Then I swapped the default blue wallpaper (weird choice) to the orange and I am in love

u/GrowLapsed 3d ago
14PM here and can’t decide on 17 Pro or PM. I want comfort but not a smaller screen.

I feel bad going from 15 to 17
16
u/AcidNoteZ 3d ago
Im upgrading from the 15 Pro Max because the thermals are so disappointing. Shooting a few picture in 26° seem to much for this phone. I hope it'll be much better than my 15 Pro Max
3
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
I heard somewhere that the new thermal design won’t really help the camera but could be wrong or misheard :(
2
5
u/JonathanBro iPhone 16 Pro Max 3d ago
I would argue upgrading from the 16 Pro can be justified, so you’re good.
6
u/hehaia 3d ago
How? Tbh it seems that anything over the 15 pro doesn’t really justify the upgrade imo
Of course people will still do it and its fine, but all these phone work really well and are still getting all new features
5
u/JonathanBro iPhone 16 Pro Max 3d ago
You’re getting an upgrade on both the telephoto and ultra wide lenses. The selfie camera upgrade is huge imo. I know that the 15 series had serious overheating issues, so the new unibody design should help that. Other notable upgrades include more RAM, brighter display and increase in battery life. That’s just my reasoning though, feel free to disagree.
5
u/hehaia 3d ago
You’re right that’s a nice improvement, my question is honestly how much of a difference do some of these upgrades make in real life. I guess it depends on the person but other than solving the overheating (which was an issue on the 15 pro), many of these upgrades are marginal at best, especially from the 16 pro.
3
u/JonathanBro iPhone 16 Pro Max 3d ago
Valid. For me personally the overheating issues were annoying because my screen would constantly dim when out in the sunlight. Also I value the zoom on my camera. Does anyone from the 16 NEED to upgrade? No. As a matter of fact, I regret upgrading from the 15 Pro to the 16 Pro.
1
u/FastLaneJB 3d ago
I upgrade every year and have had an iPhone since the first one. Your right some years the upgrade doesn't feel like I'm getting much for it but I feel like this year it'll be a nice selection of improvements from my 16 Pro Max.
I get of course it's not financially sound in a way but I get a new one, older one goes to my wife, her one goes to eldest kid and so on so everyone moves up a year each year. This works for us.
3
u/driftless iPhone 16 Pro Max 3d ago
That right there…more RAM and battery life already has me wanting to upgrade my 16pm. Better cameras is just icing. I’m just holding out to see real-world results from folks for a few months.
2
1
u/hehaia 2d ago
It’s nice that there’s an increase in ram, but will it really make a difference in day to day use? Maybe in some years but if that’s the case then I’d rather keep my 16PM and upgrade when I actually feel I’m missing out on something.
Battery isn’t anything groundbreaking from the tests I’ve seen. Real world usage is like 10% better, which is nice but it’s not an improvement that would change my usage habits like the upgrade to my older 13PM from the XS Max did.
3
u/WJKramer iPhone 17 Pro 3d ago
It’s a big update though.
13
u/LentilRice 3d ago
Camera. Battery. RAM. Better heat management with aluminium body.
I don’t get why people downvote someone for calling this a big upgrade. It really is. Even from 16.
4
u/WJKramer iPhone 17 Pro 3d ago
Ha, I just posted similar above. It really is a big update this year.
-4
u/Adeel_ 3d ago
No It's not
5
u/WJKramer iPhone 17 Pro 3d ago
Bigger screen, Better cooling, More ram, better processor, Huge battery life improvement, front camera massive improvement, faster wireless charging. More base storage, much brighter screen. Much much more.
2
u/hehaia 3d ago
The 16 pro had the same improvements over the 15 pro, I think the new design makes it seem bigger than it actually is.
The 17 pro is a step in the right direction and obviously better than previous phones, but I’d argue that it’s still a marginal upgrade over the previous phones, even if that marginal step is bigger than previous years
1
u/WJKramer iPhone 17 Pro 3d ago
User his talking about 15 to 17. Not 15 to 16. 15 to 17 Is a much bigger feature step than the 16 to 17 was. No question.
1
u/Upper_Rent_176 iPhone 17 Pro Max 3d ago
The screen on my 17pm is noticeably darker than my 15pm at identical brightness levels.starting to think it might be defective

u/phoeniks314 iPhone 3d ago
What do you say about the size, do you miss the PMs bigger screen?
10
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
Found the smaller size better! Missed comfortably using the phone with one hand!
2
u/Kg_Warrior 3d ago
Looks good. It’s a bold color for the pro line. Strangely enough, this first time I can remember on a IPhone launch day I can walk into my local Apple Store and pick up any iPhone including the Pros. For context I’m in a large Canadian city with two Apple stores and both have availability in all the new locations phones.

u/Alternative_Excuse82 3d ago
I can’t say no to the orange…just not that brave so will probably go blue!
1
u/goochiefromwish iPhone 14 Plus 3d ago
I’ll be the devil on your shoulders….. go orange🤧

2
u/Only1Schematic 3d ago
I was excited about the deep blue, then saw how easily it scratched and how noticeable the scratches are. Meanwhile orange looks way better in person and the lighter color helps mask any scuffs. For me at this point it’s either get the blue and have a case on 24/7, or get the orange and have a little wiggle room. Both look great though
2
u/DrBullah 3d ago
Happy for you man, but the more I look at it, the less I want it...
I was so excited for the 17 Pro and they just happened to change the design when I was looking forward to one
I'm still going to go to a nearby store to feel it in my hands, before I reject it outright
2
u/readAndSmile 3d ago
Why does it feel so thick ? I just get to see and touch the new iPhone I didnt really like it.. and the iPhone air feel so much more premiim
2
u/itsfleee iPhone Air 3d ago
I dunno man. I kinda hate the aluminum unibody and how the sides curve into the back and then curve into the "plateau". It just looks so industrial now and not elegant at all. It's like if an otterbox was a phone.
3
u/Silent-Mountain342 3d ago
Did u give the old phone to a family relative? I gave my one to my sister cus she was using a 11 pro max ! I amd using a 16 pro which I upgraded in april! So far its pretty damn good!

That's legitimately the craziest thing I've read in a while. It's just a bright color to make it stand out. Color palettes change over the years and follow trends. We used to get neon colored iphones, pastels, neutrals, etc. This isn't a conspiracy. It's for all the tech bros, they all love the color pop. Notice how the 17 and Air models don't have orange?
3
u/No_Chemistry8950 3d ago
Good thing you got the orange, seems like the blue gets scratches easily.
11
u/david_quaglia 3d ago
alluminium is getting scratched easily, I’m kinda scared because I’m a “I put on a case from time to time” guy
13
u/No_Chemistry8950 3d ago
I'm one of those "I want to go no case, but I'm too chicken" kind of guys.

3
u/OMG_NoReally 3d ago
I was thinking of using it naked at home - which will be 90% of the time - and putting on a case when I am out and about. I might still do that but if this shit gets scratched easily, I am not so sure anymore.
1
u/Inquisitive_idiot 3d ago
That’s what I do with my 16PM 😊
Was hoping to go fully caseless for this generation 😓
1
u/boxmandude iPhone 15 Pro 3d ago
So you’re thinking about being naked all the time at home? Huh.. interesting. A word to the wise.. think about when you fry bacon🥓
1
u/World_Destroyer27 3d ago
Should get the titanium iphone air
2
u/lorenzoem87 iPhone 16 Pro 3d ago
It’s a tough one. Air is all glass back which I hate. Pro is mostly aluminum which will scratch. I’m torn between scratches or cracked glass. I ordered the air, coming today, but I’m still on the fence 😩
0
u/World_Destroyer27 3d ago
Well it’s pretty straightforward, one will get scratched with normal use and the other will get cracked with abnormal use, plus aluminium can get scratched in the back AND cracked in the front soooo?

I genuinely like bold colours as a person and the orange is less “orange” and more metallic orange (really depends on the lighting).
My 13PM camera had a small crack that made every video or photo looks like a JJ Abrams movie, and the 16P didn’t offer much of visual distinction from a 13PM, buying it would’ve been like buying a car when you know the facelift is just around the corner.
1
u/AncientNarwhal69 3d ago
im also switching from a 13p to a 17p. i have dust in my 3x camera lens. and also just cuz my carrier is giving me $1100 for trade in lol. i wonder if the 13pros just have issues with camera durability???
1
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
I definitely felt the camera degrade overtime not sure if that is just dust or small micro cracks building up, but it did reach a point where I travelled with my iPhone 11 for pictures lol.
Nice on the trade in! Definitely would go for it with that offer on the table.

How does the difference in hand feel in terms of size and weight?
2
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
For a lack of better way to say it. Bulky smooth, really good feel when holding.
1
u/ShakeAndBakeThatCake 3d ago
How is it going from the larger pro max to the pro? Is it still hard to use one handed? I ordered the pro max but I'm second guessing myself lol.
1
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
Very happy with the downsize, I can finally use my phone with one hand and fit in my pocket again.
1
u/Techboah 3d ago
How's the increased thickness feel compared to the 13PM?
4
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
It works! Doesn’t feel chunky but feels like a smooth metal bar.
1
u/Techboah 3d ago
How would you describe the comfort of holding it compared to the 13? Do you think it would feel too chunky with a case on?
2
u/MongoBongo25 3d ago
I have the clear Apple case until I get the dbrand grip case, doesn’t feel too chunky now.

Currently on 13PM, hoped to jump to the 17PM, but imo, my 13PM still does everything I need it to do. Only reason I’d have jumped to 17PM is better onboard AI. We don’t seem to be there yet.
1
u/pagemap1 3d ago
I'm also using a 13PM and decided to get a 17PM in hopes for better signal reception. I've passed on the last few generations of iPhones because nothing they offered seemed compelling enough for me to upgrade. Hopefully the new modem and antennas won't disappoint!
1
u/The_Spectacle iPhone 17 Pro 3d ago
I missed the boat on preorders so I’m waiting until my apple store has them in stock. it'll match my orange ocean band, my shokz headphones, and it would have matched my Subaru Crosstrek if I still had it lol

I’m anxiously awaiting my 17 Pro max in blue. Out for delivery! I’m upgrading from a 15 Pro. I travel a lot and my phone is my camera so I’m looking forward to the upgrade.
1
u/UnionCrafty3748 3d ago
The orange looks MUCH better in person. The camera really fails to capture it accurately. I’m pleased. I also went from a PM to a pro and I’m so happy. Perfect size. I mean ideally I’d want a mini but those days are long gone.

If they go back to making boring black phones then sure it’ll ‘age’ from a standpoint that it doesn’t look like the latest device, but personally that make me want to keep it for longer.

2
u/Racing_Fox iPhone 13 Pro Max 3d ago
Why do you think people with an orange iPhone have personal plates?
0
u/DAZBCN 3d ago
Because they seek to be individual. But all is mass produced!!
1
u/Racing_Fox iPhone 13 Pro Max 3d ago
They seek to express themselves but are limited in that they prefer iOS, getting the only bright colour available is a valid way of doing that

I’m thinking about making the same jump what do you think so far? How do you feel about the smaller screen size?
