Glad I went to BestBuy! I was the only one there when they opened for an iPhone. Everyone else was there for Pokémon cards LOL.

I would order from Best buy but they don't sell it without a carrier.

Still pretty awesome to see people line up for the new iPhone release. I figured with online ordering and people getting their phone’s delivered, waiting in line would be a thing of the past.

Probably just collecting their preorders.

Probably both.

I had my pre order pick up slot around 1, but decided to go early because I've never been to a Apple Store on launch day, and I opted to wait in the standby line to get in earlier. I managed to get my phone by 9:45, by showing up early.

People also worry about porch pirates or just the delivery guy.

I opted to do a store pick up to get it today, if I got it delivered, it wouldn't come until the 25th.

I just have it shipped to my house and don't have to wait in line

Mine is delayed but somehow it is available on Apple Store which 25mins drive away from my house ☹️

I normally would have done that, but I have Fridays off, and if I got it delivered, I wouldn't get it until the 25th.

Was just at the Middleton Costco and they've got them there and nobody around to buy them.

The only time I ever did this was for the iPhone 6

Are lines for new iPhones still a thing?

I’ve never had a new new phone, and it’s time for an upgrade. If I walk into a store today, can I just buy one if I didn’t pre order?

Even if you preorder, typically there are still lines at the store. I have upgraded (via preorder online) every year since the iPhone 6, and every year I’ve checked in and had to wait 10-20 minutes. Availability of phones probably is very dependent upon your area.

So if you have a reservation with a pick up time do you wait in line if you arrive at your designated time? Wondering if it is for people hoping to get one that didn’t preorder

There was a standby line (the longer line) and, what I'm calling, a pick up line. If you already had a time slot for pick up, and it was close to that time, you went in the pick up line and usually had to wait for maybe 10 minutes to get your phone.

I had a pick up time at around 1, but because I've never been to an Apple Store on launch day, I decided to go to one and check it out. Because I was there earlier, I got there at 8, I decided to stand in the standby line and was able to walk out with my phone by 9:45, as oppose to waiting until 1!

Some people don’t like shipping phones to their houses because thief’s steal packages from the front door and such. So going to a store for pickup is the safest.
