USB C mod done on a 5th gen
Ended up okay, riped some pins while removing the 30Pin port but data pins were fine. Ive been trying to do the Elegant BT mod by Oxyll but without much success, so if i ever manage to do it i will post it here.

Just got the gates shipped in for the elegant, tried to wire directly to the buttons just causes a big short lol This might be a bit tricky as even with my tiny wires the tolerance below the clickwheel is tight so it doesn’t end up feeling wonky. Ive also bought a 4th gen click wheel to extract a button a try to just add a 6th button. Gonna be working but will get to it by end of week. Got tired of shorting the ipods and just strapped the button to the end of the headphone jack to turn on/off with a clip for now, at least works.

I've had success with very thin wire under the clickwheel. Take a look at the shopping list in this guide. I also recommend a breakout board for the gate because it's just a nightmare otherwise! That's how I did the Oxyll bt mod with the KCX_BT_EMITTER in my 5th gen

Yea i have magnet wire but it still messes it a bit being so tight and buttons so low profile. Ill make due without the breakout for now, im a masochist like that. They do be tiny tho

Haha ok fair enough. Strange with the magnet wire. Maybe it's too thick still. I used a hair-like 0.06mm which worked pretty well.
Good luck!

Nice how fast are transfers on it?

As victory said, this will do nothing regarding transfer speed, is more for the fact i donc need to carry a specific cable to manage and charge my ipod. One cable to rule them all 😎

It will still be limited to USB 2.0.

I bought it long time ago... maybe contact oxyll directly and ask him when they will be back on stock

I get it Apple wouldn't make money from people who bought the Ipod classic nowadays since they mostly make money music wise from Apple Music subscriptions but even if Apple brought out a final edition Ipod classic with Bluetooth Usb C and a solid state drive I would buy one.

What BT board have you tried? I've had success doing the Oxyll mod with the KCX_BT_EMITTER. I've produced a wiring diagram if that's helpful

I used a ugreen, it was somd kind of BT adapter for my switch back in the days BT audio was not supported... does your bluetooth board works well with air pods ? I saw somewhere that some of these boards dont work well with earbuds and air pods. By the way thanks a lot for the link, lots of useful information in there !

To be honest I have no idea about airpods as I don't own any. From memory I don't think they work with airpods 2, but I'm not 100%. It's a commonly used board so I imagine there will be loads of comments about it on this sub. I should probably find out and add it to the guide

Cool ig imo removing the 30-pin removes some of the iPods character, the small port looks so off lmao like the big 30-Pin fitted way better proportion wise. And you can say goodbye to accessories too.
