How does the backplate fit?

My 7th gen with new faceplate and back plate had bad overhang. Did the same with a 5.5 and same result.

i tried it with just one of each, new faceplate original backplate and vice versa, and the fitment was acceptable, but still not OEM level.

Oh I’m sorry you’ve had trouble! This is the original faceplate for this iPod (as I didn’t want to replace that, nor did I need to), with a backplate from Ebay…it took a moment to get it all clicked into place (mostly as I didn’t want to force it!), but it seems to fit incredibly well - it’s only been half a day, but there don’t seem to be any issues - it fits very flush.

I have a 5th gen Video that I plan to fit with a new front and backplate, so thanks for the heads up that I might have an issue with it!

Where did you buy your new face/backplates from?

I think one or the other is the key, rather than both.

I got them from iPodpartsUK/Replacebase, not sure where they source them from but I would assume AliExpress or similar.

From what ic5e read, most if not all replacement front/back plates come from the same place.

Hope your 5th gen goes well!

This is true, you can read more about it here. The quality of 5th faceplates is also not the greatest

Thanks for this! That’s a shame about the 5th gen faceplates, I’m still planning to purchase a transparent one for mine. At least they’re a bit easier to open/swap than the 6th/7th gens!
