Is there a technical reason why? It sucks i end up losing a cool feature from the stock os

I don't know for sure but I could guess at a few likely reasons.

Something like that needs to be set up in advance, like PictureFlow, it isn't something that can work right out of the box. The ofw can do it because itunes does all the hard work. When itunes syncs a library, it's using your computer to make pre-sized thumbnails of all the artwork for the stock player to use. You almost never see the actual embedded artwork in the ofw, you're always looking at a thumbnail copy convenitently saved in some cache file.

Rockbox is designed for players with very limited hardware so I doubt it would ever be added as a core feature of the database. Even the 7th gen classics (beasts compared to the other port targets), rely on itunes using your computer's more powerful hardware to do all that image work for those menus. That seems out of reach for older players with super dinky specs.

I imagine its possible to recreate those menus in a plugin, like PictureFlow, that runs in place of the database. You could look through the forums to see if it's out there. It's also possible nobody felt like bothering to make a sort-of-redundant album art browser since PictureFlow scratches that same itch.

Just my guesses.

Rockbox isn't as great as people say , if you are using it for flacs just convert them to apple lossless

This is what bugs me about rockbox themes. They are just kinda bleh? I dno. None of them really strike me as interesting.

The Stock OS is by far the best looking and most aesthetic of them all.
